The Minnesota Vikings have completed their plan to turn over their kicking duties to rookie Daniel Carlson Tyler Bozak Jersey , releasing veteran Kai Forbath with two weeks remaining in the preseason.

For all the training camp drills and exhibition game extra points the Vikings can give Carlson, there's no way for him to experience the pressure and scrutiny that comes with the job on a championship-chasing team.

For all the calm the Southeastern Conference's all-time scoring leader has exhibited around Vikings headquarters since they drafted him out of Auburn in the fifth round in April, there's no way for them to know how he'll handle the enormous responsibility until September.

"We'll just see how it goes," coach Mike Zimmer said on Monday after Forbath was let go. "You make your decision, and you live with it."

Forbath took both field goal tries in Minnesota's exhibition game on Saturday against Jacksonville and missed one when it hit the right upright. In 25 games with the Vikings, including the playoffs, Forbath made 48 of 56 extra points and 50 of 57 field goals.

He stabilized the position when a struggling Blair Walsh left it in disarray midway through the 2016 season and made his share of clutch kicks http://www.officialwild.com/authentic-adidas-matt-dumba-jersey , but the 30-year-old never quite found enough of a groove to gain the team's full trust.

The Vikings were looking for more depth on their kickoffs as well as consistency on field goals and extra points, and the 6-foot-5 Carlson has the stronger leg.

"At the end of the day it's who can make the important kicks and who the team has confidence in, so I feel really good that the coaches and the staff have entrusted me with that confidence," Carlson said.

He was quick to credit Forbath for his class in handling a dynamic that could've been awkward from the day the Vikings took Carlson with the 167th overall selection. Forbath has kicked for three NFL teams, mostly with Washington.

"Kai's given me a run for my money, and he's had a lot of success here and elsewhere. So it was a great competition," Carlson said Dustin Brown Jersey , adding: "I wish him nothing but the best, but I'm excited to be staying around here and get ready for the real work."

The Vikings invested a sixth-round draft pick in Walsh in 2012 and watched him become an All-Pro as a rookie. He never repeated that performance, though, and four seasons later the team had no choice but to start fresh. Now they're counting on not having to make any more changes with the role for many years.

"Every kick's a pressure kick, and you know your job is going to be on the line and it's probably going to be decided on a few different kicks," Carlson said, adding: "You want to be on a winning team. ... I'm just going to take that and run with it."

The game on Saturday was particularly painful for the bottom of the roster Evgenii Dadonov Jersey Kids , with five players injured and needing assistance off the field. Defensive end Ade Aruna (right knee) was placed on injured reserve on Monday. Offensive lineman Cedrick Lang (right leg) and fullback Johnny Stanton (left leg) were waived with an injured designation, meaning they must clear waivers before being placed on injured reserve. Tight end Josiah Price (right knee) was also waived-injured, after getting hurt in practice last week. The Vikings signed two players to fill open spots, including fullback Kobe McCrary, who played in college at Minnesota.

Former NFL player Rae Carruth has apologized for his role in the shooting death of Cherica Adams in 2001 and the permanent disability suffered by his then-unborn son, Chancellor Adams, as a result.

Carruth is serving 18 to 24 years in prison after being found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and two other charges. He could be released Oct. 22 from Sampson Correctional Institution in Clinton Justin Abdelkader Jersey , North Carolina.

In a 15-page hand-written letter and ensuing phone call to WBTV in Charlotte, Carruth apologized to Adams' mother, Saundra Adams, for the "senseless act that led to the death of your daughter and the permanent physical difficulties that Chancellor has to suffer through."

Carruth also said he'd like custody of Chancellor one day. However, Adams told WBTV that won't happen .

A look at what’s happening around the majors Thursday:

MIDSUMMER SKID

The Nationals open a series against Miami hoping to end a five-game skid and get back to .500. Washington fell to 42-43 with a loss to Boston on Wednesday Nicklas Backstrom Jersey , the first time the preseason NL East favorites have been under .500 this late in the year since being 60-61 on Aug. 21, 2015. The Nationals held a players’ only meeting after a 3-0 loss to the Red Sox highlighted by Adam Eaton’s throwing error and a wild pitch from Ryan Madson. Jeremy Hellickson (2-1, 2.63) makes his second start since returning from the DL, while Marlins righty Pablo Lopez (1-0, 3.00) makes his second MLB start.

NOT VERY VERLANDER

Justin Verlander (9-4 Oscar Dansk Jersey , 2.12) tries to stop a personal slide when the Astros open a series against the White Sox. Verlander has allowed nine runs in 11 2/3 innings over his past two starts, taking losses to Toronto (four runs) and Tampa Bay (five runs). Verlander hasn’t allowed four or more earned runs in three straight starts since June 2014 while with Detroit. Carlos Rodon (1-3, 4.55) is up for Chicago.

CUETO’S BACK

Johnny Cueto is expected to be reinstated from the disabled list and pitch when the Giants open a four-game series against the Cardinals. Cueto was placed on the disabled list May 1 with inflammation in his right elbow. A few days later, he visited Dr. James Andrews, who diagnosed him with a strained elbow. Cueto is 3-0 with a 0.84 ERA in five starts this season. The Giants are 41-21 in his starts since he joined the team in 2016.

PITCHING IN

Angels rookie Jaime Barria will start against AL West-leading Seattle in place of Tyler Skaggs a day after the left-hander went on the DL with a thigh strain. Barria is making his 12th start of the season and has given up two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. Lefty Marco Gonzales (8-5 Frederik Andersen Jersey , 3.77) makes his first start since pitching the first complete game of his career in a 4-1 win over Kansas City.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

Joe Mauer needs one double to give him 415 in his career, which would break a tie with Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett for the Twins’ franchise record. Minnesota has lost six straight and returns home from a 1-8 trip to play Baltimore, which has the worst record in the majors at 24-61. More good news for the scuffling Twins: Two-time All-Star Ervin Santana (right middle finger surgery) is scheduled to make his next rehab appearance for Class A Fort Myers.

If an NFL General Manager was designing their own team they would attempt to build a balanced offense. Looking back on the last few Super Bowl Champions, it is important that your team can run, pass deep Authentic Marcus Johansson Jersey , and control the clock, as the situation calls for it. But sometimes, thinks don't go as we have planned. There are numerous teams in the league that rely on just one or two key players to power their offense. The most exciting of these are the dynamic QB-WR duos that spot the NFL landscape.

This article will explore the 10 QB-WR Duos That Will Create Magic In 2018 (And 10 That Definitely Won't). As I hope this list will make evident, just having a magic combination of passer and pass catcher isn't necessarily enough to get your team to the playoffs. With that being said, if you team does not have at least a good quarterback and one competent pass catcher Mathew Barzal Jersey , it will be very hard for them to find success in todays NFL. If you feel that any QB-WR duos should have made our list (on either side of the coin), feel free to mention them in the comments section.

Over the course of Donovan Mitchell’s outstanding rookie season with Utah Authentic Nail Yakupov Jersey , Portland star Damian Lillard has become something of a mentor, regularly sending texts of encouragement.

So Lillard really didn’t mind when Mitchell was the one who broke his rookie 3-point record.

”He’s had a great season, not just for a rookie but for a guard in the NBA. I’m really happy for him,” Lillard said. ”We’ve had some communication throughout the season. I like to see a guy that’s humble, a guy that works hard. Not many people were talking about him coming out of the draft. He wasn’t the talk of the draft.

”But he just came out and he just showed. That’s what makes me a fan of him.”

Mitchell surpassed Lillard’s mark of 185 3-pointers on Tuesday night in Utah’s 119-79 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

The next night, the two players were face-to-face in the final regular-season game. Portland claimed a 102-93 win on its home court, sending the Trail Blazers into a first-round playoff series against the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Jazz to a postseason matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Mitchell, 21 Anders Bjork Jersey , described the end of the season as fun, with both the record and Utah’s push for the playoffs. The Jazz strung together an 11-game winning streak starting in late January to begin a run in which they lost just twice in a 23-game span.

”The kid inside me has really enjoyed it,” Mitchell said. ”I got the Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year on my team and we’re the No. 5 seed and nobody thought we’d even be in the playoffs. So I’m excited to get this thing going.”

Utah coach Quin Snyder said he was always confident in Mitchell’s ability, even back in early November when the rookie went 3 for 21 from the floor in a 104-97 loss to Philadelphia.

”As much as anything, it wasn’t Donovan’s play. I mean it was – coupled with his mental makeup. You could tell this was a guy who was fearless, who was not afraid of the moment. And I think the Philly game, what he did the next game, how he moved the ball, his decisions were better.”

Snyder said the Jazz staff focused on Mitchell’s progress and knew the results would come for the 6-foot-3 shooting guard out of Louisville.

”He wasn’t worried about starting. He just wanted to play Ryan O'Reilly Jersey , and he wanted to play well,” the coach said.

Overall, Mitchell led Utah during the regular season with an average of 20.5 points a game, and he led all NBA rookies with an average of 23 points in March (ninth overall). He’s the first rookie to lead his team in scoring and into the playoffs since Carmelo Anthony with Denver.

On Thursday, Mitchell was named the NBA’s Rookie of the Month for March and the first part of April. It was the fourth time he’d earned the award this season.

He has 187 3-pointers heading into the postseason, which starts for the Jazz on Sunday in Oklahoma City.

Mitchell and Ben Simmons are the top candidates for the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award (which Lillard won in 2013). The two have gotten into something of a war of words lately, with Simmons telling ESPN that he’d vote for himself: ”If you look at the numbers, you’ll see. People who know the game know.”

Mitchell responded by trolling Simmons with a pair of sweatshirts. The first one – worn before Tuesday’s game against the Warriors – was emblazoned with the definition of the word rookie. The second, which he wore into the Moda Center on Wednesday http://www.officialflyersproshop.com/authentic-adidas-nolan-patrick-jersey , exclaimed simply, ”Rookie?”

Simmons was the first overall pick by Philadelphia in the 2016 draft but broke his foot and missed his entire first season. So technically he counts as a rookie this season.

Back in February, Lillard made his endorsement of Mitchell clear: ”I think he should be Rookie of the Year, for sure. Not just because of his numbers, but his impact on their team. He’s basically leading them. It’s special to see a rookie be able to do what he’s doing out there.”

Utah teammate Rudy Gobert said Mitchell has already proven his worth to the Jazz.

”Whether he wins it or not, I don’t think it really matters. In five years we won’t care if he won it or not. He showed that he’s poised to be a superstar in this league and he will be,” Gobert said.

The New York Jets have signed defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd, the team’s third-round draft pick out of Fort Hays State , to a four-year deal worth the slotted amount of $3.4 million.

The 6-foot-4 Mario Lemieux Jersey , 315-pound native of Ontario, Canada, was the first Division II player selected in this year’s draft.

Shepherd began his college career at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia in 2011 and became a starter after redshirting his freshman season. He then left school for financial reasons and worked various jobs for the next two years before walking on to Fort Hays State’s team in Kansas.

He was the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association defensive player of the year as a senior and finished his three-year career at Fort Hays with 168 tackles, including 27 for loss, and 10 sacks.

The announcement Friday leaves the Jets with just two unsigned draft picks: quarterback Sam Darnold, the No. 3 overall selection; and tight end Chris Herndon, a fourth-rounder.

 Minnesota Vikings Jerseys

The Chicago White Sox will go for their third win in a row when they host the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Chicago (27-51) is coming off a rain-soaked 8-4 victory over the Twins in the series opener Tuesday night. The game featured a long delay at the start but proved to be worthwhile for the White Sox Womens Travis Hamonic Jersey , who tallied 12 hits and played error-free defense despite a sloppy surface.

Meanwhile, Minnesota (34-41) will look for a fresh start after losing for the fourth time in five games. The Twins are coming off a frustrating game in which they managed two extra-base hits — solo home runs by Brian Dozier and Ehire Adrianza — and made two errors in the field.

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu will look to get on track after struggling through much of June. He is hitting .208 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 24 games this month.

“It’s no secret that it has been a tough month for me for my offense,” Abreu said to The Athletic. “Probably the worst in my time here in the majors. …

“I’m just working hard. I’m just trying to get over it. We still have a few days left in this month, and maybe I can change how this month has gone for me.”

Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson (2-5, 3.25 ERA) will try to prevent that from happening. Gibson has been quietly effective this season despite his underwhelming record. The 30-year-old has limited opponents to two earned runs or fewer in each of his past five starts.

In 11 career starts against the White Sox, Gibson boasts a 6-2 record with a 2.42 ERA. He has walked 14 and struck out 65 in 74 1/3 innings. He has faced the team once this season http://www.officialhurricanes.com/authentic-adidas-andrei-svechnikov-jersey , drawing a no-decision after allowing three runs on four hits in 6 2/3 innings.

“We’re almost halfway through the season, and we’re not where we want to be,” Gibson said recently to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “We’ve got a little bit of urgency here. We’ve got a lot of goals we want to hit. … We’re not far off.”

Abreu is 6-for-28 versus Gibson.

Opposite Gibson, the White Sox will turn to right-hander James Shields (2-9, 4.59 ERA) to make his 17th start of the season. The 36-year-old enjoyed a recent highlight as he pitched at least six innings in 11 consecutive outings, but that streak ended his last time out as he gave up eight runs (two earned) in 4 2/3 innings against the Oakland Athletics.

Shields is 8-10 with a 4.54 ERA in 26 career starts against the Twins. He has walked 63 and struck out 119 in 158 2/3 innings. This season has proved to be a struggle for Shields against Minnesota as he has given up 10 runs in 12 2/3 innings for a 7.11 ERA.

The White Sox are 15-26 at home this season; The Twins are 14-21 on the road.

Minneapolis has the signal strength http://www.officialbluejackets.com/authentic-adidas-david-savard-jersey , data speed and reliability to handle the onslaught of service demands that come with hosting a Super Bowl, according to a wireless coverage mapping company.

OpenSignal said the metro area has been performing well in similar studies for years, KSTP-TV reported .

”Our city is the Midwest’s premier tech hub and quickly becoming a serious player nationally,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said. ”To keep that momentum trucking and continue recruiting top talent, we’ll need a 21st century communication infrastructure – and these investments will help make sure that we have one.”

Efforts to improve connectivity in preparation for the Super Bowl began more than a year ago. Major wireless carriers have been working to boost small-cell and other technologies to increase wireless capacity.

The Xcel Energy Center, the Minneapolis Convention Center and the Mall of America have also been working to improve their distributed antenna systems.

”The upgrade has been going on and off for the better part of a year Jared Spurgeon Jersey ,” said Lane Carlson, facilities manager for the convention center. ”But it’s been hot and heavy for the last three or four months.”

The improvements will also make the facility a more appealing location for future conventions, Carlson said.

The Mall of America has added 1,200 antennas, 50 miles of cable and numerous temporary Wi-Fi access points, according to a spokesman.

Officials hope the efforts will allow the influx of Super Bowl week visitors to be able to take selfies Eric Staal Jersey , record video and seamlessly post content on their social media accounts.

The city expects to see about 1 million visitors during the week of the Super Bowl. Super Bowl Opening Night is on Jan. 29, and the game itself is Feb. 4.

It is absolutely apparent that the NHL is having a youth movement that has never been so strong. Today鈥檚 best players seem to making it to the top during their rookie campaigns聽which is truly remarkable. Yet Mattias Janmark Jersey , with this huge rise, a lot of older players are dropping in skill at a quicker rate because of the speed of today鈥檚 game. Now, that is not to say that all veterans are no longer stars. It does however mean that their expiration dates are definitely something to pay attention to. It is clear that older players need to work on their stamina and endurance primarily if they want to continue playing this game. I mean, have you noticed that enforcers are basically extinct?

In this article we will be looking at eight veterans who will be off their current teams next season and eight younger players who may take their spots. The younger players on this list will all be under thirty because those are the ages where they are definitely in their primes. Although these veterans most likely will be let go by their respective clubs, it is important to note that it does not necessarily mean that their careers will be over. In fact, the majority will most likely have the chance to be back in the league next season. This offseason should be a very eventful one for us hockey fans if these predictions end up becoming a reality. We will see next summer!

Now, let鈥檚 take a look at the eight veterans who will be let go and the eight young stars who will take their places.

Zay Jones is with family and is going to be fine Womens Evander Kane Jersey , the Buffalo Bills receiver’s father said Wednesday, two days after his son was arrested following a naked, bloody argument with his brother.

Robert Jones posted a note on his Twitter account saying Jones ”is with me and his mom,” while adding ”he’s going to be fine!”

Online jail records also showed the player, whose legal name is Isaiah Avery Jones, had been released.

The 22-year-old Jones was arrested after officers were called to a disturbance in downtown Los Angeles, said police spokesman Luis Garcia. Jones was found ”breaking glass doors and windows” and arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism Zach Parise Jersey , Garcia said.

Prosecutors did not immediately file a case against Jones and have asked police to further investigate the matter, district attorney’s office spokesman Paul Eakins said.

The arrest was first reported by TMZ, which posted a video showing a nude Zay Jones pushing his brother, Cayleb, in what appeared to be the hallway of an apartment building. Cayleb Jones, a Minnesota Vikings receiver, on Wednesday also posted a note on his Twitter account Victor Mete Jersey , which read: ”I am my brothers keeper.”

Robert Jones, who lives in Texas, is a former NFL linebacker, and won three Super Bowl championships with the Dallas Cowboys during his 10-year career.

Jones was held on $20,000 bail. His agent, Zeke Sandhu, did not reply to text and voicemail messages. Sandhu also represents Cayleb Jones.

The Bills Travis Konecny Jersey , on Tuesday night, said in a statement they were aware of an incident involving Jones and were still gathering additional information.

Jones was the first of Buffalo’s two second-round picks in 2017 after completing a prolific college career at East Carolina. He set an FBS record with 399 career catches and broke the single-season reception mark with 158 catches in his final season.

The production didn’t carry over into Jones’ rookie season as he struggled in attempting to take over the Bills’ No. 2 receiver spot. He finished tied for third on the team with 27 catches and fourth with 316 yards. He also scored two touchdowns.

Jones’ production tailed off over the final month, when he had just two catches for 25 yards. Following the season, Jones revealed he played part of the year with a torn labrum and had surgery to repair the injury in January.

Wawrow reported from Buffalo, New York.

The Dolphins’ season went sideways last year when Ryan Tannehill‘s knee wasn’t as ready as they thought it was.

They did not respond by laying in a Plan B this offseason Michael Del Zotto Jersey , so the good news seems to be that Tannehill is well.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Tannehill will participate in today’s OTAs, and won’t be limited after last year’s ACL surgery.

The Dolphins were linked with a number of options at the position this offseason, but they didn’t draft one, and they let veteran backup Matt Moore walk in free agency (where he remains).

They have an odd lot of backups at the moment, with Brock Osweiler and David Fales and Bryce Petty duking it out for the honor of being second in line. And writing that sentence makes you realize how important it is for Tannehill to be physically prepared for 16 games.

Trailing by 1 in the fourth quarter against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Houston Rockets needed someone to step up.

No surprise that it was James Harden who came through.

Harden scored 44 points and powered a big fourth-quarter run that allowed the Rockets to outlast the Timberwolves 104-101 Sunday night in Game 1 of the first-round playoff series.

”We were struggling to make shots, struggling to really have any kind of rhythm and James put us on his back Evgenii Dadonov Jersey Kids ,” coach Mike D’Antoni said. ”He’s been doing it for a while now.”

Minnesota scored four straight points to get within 3 with about 30 seconds left. Chris Paul added two free throws after that for Houston, but a tip-in by Karl-Anthony Towns got Minnesota back within 3. After a bad pass by Paul gave the Timberwolves a chance to tie it with 1.5 seconds left, Jimmy Butler’s shot was short.

”Came up short,” Butler said. ”But I’d shoot it again if I had the opportunity.”

The Timberwolves had a one-point lead with about seven minutes left when Houston used a 9-0 run, with the last seven points from Harden, to make it 94-86 with about four minutes to go. Harden, who also had a steal in that span, capped the run with a 3-pointer that prompted Minnesota coach Tom Thibodeau to call a timeout.

Jeff Teague ended Minnesota’s scoring drought with two free throws after the timeout and added a 3-point play after a basket by Harden. Harden made another shot to give him 11 straight points for Houston before another basket by Teague.

Harden got Capela in on the scoring after that Youth Christian Djoos Jersey , finding him for an alley-oop that pushed the lead to 101-93 with less than three minutes left.

”Honestly I was just trying to be aggressive and make the right play,” Harden said. ”I think if you have that aggressive mindset, good things will happen.”

The top-seeded Rockets had their hands full with the No. 8 Timberwolves on a night where Houston made just 10 of 37 3-pointers. Harden shot 7 for 12 on 3-pointers, but Trevor Ariza, P.J. Tucker, Eric Gordon and Paul combined to make just 3 of their 22 tries.

”We’ve had games like this throughout the season and the biggest thing that I’ve learned, that I think our teams knows is that we don’t stop shooting,” Paul said. ”We still take the shots that we get and coming into Game 2 guess what? We’re going to shoot them again because we have that confidence.”

Houston kept All-Star big man Towns in check Scott Hartnell Jersey , limiting him to just eight points after he’d averaged 21.3 in leading the Wolves to their first playoff appearance since 2004. Andrew Wiggins scored 18 points to lead Minnesota.

Thibodeau said the Rockets did a good job of switching on Towns and using double-teams to slow him down, but admitted he has to do more.

”He’s got to be more active,” Thibodeau said.

Said Towns: ”I’ve got to be better all-around.”

The Wolves scored the first nine points of the second half to take a 56-54 lead. Tucker made a 3 for the Rockets after that, but Minnesota used a 6-1 spurt, with 3s from Wiggins and Teague, to go back on top 62-58.

The Rockets had managed just six points in the quarter when Gerald Green made a basket with to cut the lead to 1 with about five minutes left in the third. Derrick Rose added a bucket seconds later, but Houston scored six straight points after that to put Houston up 68-65. Harden got things going when he made a 3-pointer while being fouled by Rose and also made the free throw.

Minnesota led by a basket after a jump shot by Towns with about two minutes left in the quarter. Harden took over after that, scoring the last six points of the quarter to leave Houston up 76-72 entering the fourth.

Harden hit a 3-pointer before making a driving layup he was fouled on by Gorgui Dieng. Harden flexed each bicep twice while peering down at the muscles after the shot before making the free throw.

The Rockets swept the regular-season series 4-0 Aleksander Barkov Jersey , winning by an average of 15.8 points a game and it looked like this one might be another blowout early as the Rockets raced out to a 17-6 lead behind 10 early points from Clint Capela. But the Timberwolves got going after that and had tied it up by late in the first quarter.

The Rockets led 54-47 at halftime.

TIP-INS

Timberwolves: Butler, who led the team by averaging 22.2 points in the regular season, finished with 13 points. … The Wolves made 8 of 23 3-point attempts. … Towns had 12 rebounds and two assists.

Rockets: Ryan Anderson missed the game with a sprained left ankle. D’Antoni said there was a chance he could return for Game 2, but that he would know more in the next couple of days. … Capela had 20 points and 10 rebounds at halftime, but was limited in the second half and added just four more points and two rebounds.

THEY SAID IT

Paul on tying a season-high with six turnovers: ”I think the worst thing was the turnovers. I feel like I was with the Bad News Bears.”

BLOCK PARTY
