the Minnesota Vikings picking up their third consecutive victory, as they got their first Cheap Adam Thielen Jersey victory over the New York Jets in New York (and just the third victory over the J-E-T-S in franchise history overall). You would think that would mean another move up in the Power Rankings that we gather from pundits around these vast interwebs of ours each week.Is that going to be the case? Well, let’s take a look at what they have to say, shall we?Associated Press: #5 (Last week: #7)No Vikings-centric commentary from the AP this week.SB Nation: #7 (Last week: #7)No Vikings-centric commentary about the Vikings this week.Walter Cherepinsky, Walter Football: #9 (Last week: #9)Nothing new or notable from Walter Football this week.Frank Schwab, Yahoo! The Vikings held on to their position in seven of our twelve sets of rankings this week, though the other five sets did see them move upwards. Only one of the twelve outlets we use for these rankings has the Vikings outside of the Top 8 in the NFL, and their average ranking this week is a nice, even 6, which is up one spot from the nice, even. . .or odd. . .7 they were at last week. Here’s a look at this week’s trend graph , which you may click to embiggen as always. That’s a look at your Power Rankings Roundup for this week, folks. If the Vikings can get themselves a fourth consecutive victory this week. . .against a team that’s ranked ahead of them in pretty much all of the rankings we use. . .we will certainly see this recent upward trajectory continue.Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers: Game time, channel, radio, streaming and more It’s the first installment of the Border Battle on Sunday, as the Minnesota Vikings will travel to Lambeau Field to take on Aaron Rodgers (and the rest of the Green Bay Packers, too, I suppose). Both of these teams are 1-0, so the winner will be taking an early edge in the race for the NFC North division crown. So, how can you follow all of the action from Lambeau Field on Sunday afternoon? Well, that’s what we’re here to help you figure out.Television InfoThis all-NFC battle will be aired on FOX, which is KMSP-9 in the Twin Cities, with kickoff scheduled for noon Central time. If you’re outside of the Twin Cities area and are wondering if your local affiliate will be carrying the contest, here is the coverage map from 506 Sports. The Vikings/Packers game is shown in red.If you’re looking for this one on your DirecTV Sunday Ticket package, you can find in on Channel 711. The play-by-play team this week will be the same as last week, with Charles Davis and Kevin Burkhardt manning the booth.I still don’t have a decent site for Canadian television listings, so no insight on where to see this one north of the border. My apologies. If anyone has a decent source, please pass it along. For our friends in the United Kingdom Cheap Mike Hughes Jersey , it doesn’t appear that the game will be shown on any of the usual networks that you can find the NFL on. Kickoff is at 6:00 PM UK time, and your best bet is likely going to be on NFL Game Pass. For our men and women in uniform overseas, this game will, surprisingly, be shown live on the American Forces Network, and specifically on AFN Sports 2. Kickoff time is set for 1800Z, which means a 1900L kickoff for viewers in Central Europe, 2130L for everyone in Afghanistan, and Monday morning at 0200L for fans in Japan and Korea.Radio InfoIf you’re not going to be anywhere near a television for this one, you’ll be able to hear the call from Paul Allen and Pete Bercich on the Vikings Radio Network. That link goes to a list of Vikings Radio Network affiliates across the Upper Midwest. See if yours will be carrying the game. There are a couple of other places you can find it online as well, including the TuneIn radio service as well as the KFAN site (if you’re on a desktop or laptop computer only. . .it won’t work on phones or tablets). If you’re going to be listening via satellite radio, you can have the Vikings’ feed on Sirius Channel 99. If you have an XM radio, you’re going to be stuck with the Packers’ feed on Channel 225. If you’re using the SiriusXM Online App, the Vikings’ permanent home there is Channel 819.Referee InfoPer the good folks at Football Zebras, the officiating crew for Sunday’s contest will be led by Tony Corrente. Corrente was the head referee for one Vikings’ game in 2017, as he officiated the team’s 30-23 victory over the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Thanksgiving Day.Weather InfoWell, hey, look at that! It’s an outside game! That means we need to take a serious look at the weather forecast with our friends at WeatherNation. From the looks of the forecast Cheap Dalvin Cook Jersey , it might be a bit of a warm one on the other side of the border, with the temperature at kickoff time of about 80 degrees and holding steady at that mark throughout the game. Winds will be coming out of the southeast at 5-10 miles an hour.Streaming InfoThere are several legal subscription services that are available in order to stream the game legally. Among them are, USTVNow, and Sling TV. If you’re overseas, your best bet is going to be NFL GamePass.Since it has recently been brought up, I want to make it perfectly clear that streams from Reddit or other places are not. . .I repeat, not. . .legal. If you’d like to argue about that, you can argue it somewhere else, because the moderators won’t listen to that garbage. Until Reddit, or anywhere else, has a deal with the National Football League, those streams are illegal and not welcome to be put up on this site. If you want to use them, go find them on your own and don’t be plastering them in the comments section here unless you’d rather not be in the comments of the Game Thread. . .or any other thread. . .here at DN.That should be all of the information you need in order to keep track of all the action from U.S. Bank Stadium between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon. We’ll have our Open Thread for the first quarter up about an hour before kickoff or so, and we hope that you’ll join us here for all of the fun!

It won’t be long until the season is over. I know Womens Anthony Barr Jersey , y’all are like, “but, Lucas it’s only the second preseason game.” You’re not wrong, but the season will come and go in a blink of an eye, so enjoy every bit of it. Minnesota kicks-off against Jacksonville on Saturday at noon. One of the biggest things to watch for that I’m not including on my three things, because it’s just obvious. That’s to watch these two defenses and see where one stacks up against the other. Here are the three things to keep your eye on throughout the game:3. Tight end competition Wednesday in practice, tight end Josiah Price suffered a season-ending knee injury. Now, the tight end depth lost one player. It’s debatable if Price would have even made the roster, but that solidifies a position battle between Blake Bell and rookie Tyler Conklin for the third tight end spot and ixnayed a spot for Price on the active roster. Conklin only caught one pass last week for two yards, but Bell caught zero passes. I got a thing for rookies beating out players who’ve been in the league for a few years. Conklin only appeared in eight games last season with Central Michigan after missing the first five because of an injury. He still managed to scrape up 28 catches for 406 yards and five touchdowns, averaging about 50 yards a game. Bell didn’t see much action last season with the Vikings. He only managed three catches for 19 yards in 13 games. He was placed on injured reserve after a shoulder injury he sustained on December 15. The year before that he was in San Francisco where he played in 13 games and only recorded four catches for 85 yards before going on the injured reserve, again. 2. Look for Forbath to strike backYes, Daniel Carlson had a fantastic first preseason game. Now, this week it will probably be Kai Forbath hitting field goals and extra points, while Carlson handles kick-offs. Forbath isn’t going to let Carlson just take his job. Last week Carlson hit what seemed to be a perfect 57-yard field goal and a 39-yard field goal earlier in the game. He managed to make all four of his extra attempts. He had a solid debut, but can Forbath match his performance? Why do I make a big deal about kickers? Well just look back on track records of former kickers who played for the Vikings and blew big games (cough, cough Gary Anderson and Blair Walsh , cough, cough). 1. Return of Dalvin CookFinally we get to see number 33 hit the field and take some live-game reps. Well, hopefully since it’s not a for sure thing. I feel like he might get a decent amount of touches, but this is also where we will get a hint of if he’ll be the same player that he was on pace to be last year before he got hurt. Before getting hurt last season Cook was on pace to exceed 1,000 yards rushing and some fantasy experts expect him to rush for over 1,100 this season. I’d say pump the breaks a little bit, considering how well Latavius Murray played last season. I wouldn’t mind if offensive coordinator John DeFlippo decided to split the workload between the two or just run with whoever is feeling it that day. There is no way Murray will take a backseat to Cook.Seahawks at Vikings Preseason 2018: Second Half Open Thread We’re at halftime at U.S. Bank Stadium in the All-Important Third Preseason Game鈩?between the Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings, and the home team trails going into the locker room by a score of 10-6.The Vikings put together a solid enough opening drive. Dalvin Cook got to carry the football on two of the first three offensive snaps for the Vikings, and got a combined one yard on those carries (though that was enough to get a first down). The Vikings went 49 yards in 14 plays on their opening drive, and got Daniel Carlson into position to attempt a 42-yard field goal. Unfortunately, on his first kick since winning the kicking competition over Kai Forbath, Carlson pushed his attempt wide to the left. So, despite holding onto the ball for the first half of the first quarter, the Vikings wound up with no points. The Vikings defense did what they do, forcing Russell Wilson and the Seattle offense into a three-and-out on their opening drive. Seattle punter Michael Dickson, a rookie this season, blasted an outstanding punt to pin the Vikings down at their 3-yard line to start their second possession. The second drive was the C.J. Ham & Latavius Murray variety hour , as they both had big plays on the drive. Ham had a pair of big receptions for first downs, and Murray had a 24-yard reception on a third down play to get the Vikings near midfield. After Ham’s second big catch put the Vikings into Seattle territory, Kirk Cousins found Stefon Diggs for a 27-yard pitch-and-catch down to the Seattle 10.To start the second quarter. . .after the Seahawks only had the ball once and ran three offensive plays. . .the Vikings had third-and-goal from the Seattle 5, but Cousins was crushed for what appeared to be a sack by Bobby Wagner, but a defensive holding call on Seattle gave the Vikings a new set of downs. Minnesota took advantage, as Murray went over from a yard out to give the Vikings the lead. Strangely, the Vikings elected to go for two points, and Cousins’ pass for Laquon Treadwell fell incomplete to keep the purple’s lead at 6-0.The Vikings’ scoring drive was 13 plays, 97 yards, for those of you scoring at home. Or, hey, even if you’re by yourself. They were also 5-for-6 on third downs on their first two possessions after the team went a combined 0-for-12 on third downs last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.Seattle had a significantly better second possession, as Wilson marched his team into Minnesota territory with a series of completions. A run by Mike Davis then moved the Seahawks to the Minnesota 23-yard line. Danielle Hunter then buried Davis for a loss, but Wilson then found Brandon Marshall. . .yes, that Brandon Marshall. . .for a big gain to the Minnesota 6. Seattle finished the drive on the next play, as Chris Carson took a handoff and went in for a Seattle touchdown. Sebastian Janikowski. . .yes, that Sebastian Janikowski. . .connected on the extra point Womens Andrew Sendejo Jersey , and the road team moved out in front by a score of 7-6.Minnesota went three-and-out on the subsequent drive, and Ryan Quigley’s punt put the Seahawks at their own 47-yard line. It didn’t take them long to get into Minnesota territory, but the Vikings’ defense stood up and held the Seahawks to a 35-yard field goal by Janikowski to make the score 10-6.The Vikings got a chance to practice their two-minute offense, starting their drive from their own 17-yard line. Laquon Treadwell played a big role on the drive, catching a 12-yard pass for a first down and then putting together a 27-yard catch-and-run on a third down to push the Vikings into Seattle territory. The Vikings’ offense stalled, and Carlson came on again to attempt a 42-yard field goal. . .and he missed it, again. Wide to the left, again. Not what the Vikings need to see, and the score remained 10-6. That’s how we went into the locker room at halftime.Cousins got a lot of work in the first half, as he threw the ball 28 times, completing 17 of them for 182 yards. The Vikings also went 7-of-9 on third down, which is a vast improvement over last week, obviously. If not for the two missed field goals by the rookie. . .which is certainly concerning. . .the Vikings would have taken a lead into the locker room. Cousins connected with six different receivers, with Diggs leading the way with 51 yards on four catches. We’re at halftime at U.S. Bank Stadium, the Minnesota Vikings trail the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 10-6, and our rookie kicker apparently has a case of the yips now that he’s officially won the job. What will the second half hold? Join us and find out!

Paul Allen has been the radio voice of the Minnesota Vikings for 17 years Linval Joseph Jersey , and has had a morning sports talk show in Minneapolis for 20. If there is anyone outside of Rick Spielman or Mike Zimmer that has the pulse of the Vikings and their personnel, one could make an argument that it’s Paul Allen.Today on his show on KFAN, PA apparently dropped this little nugget bomb:As fans, we love to play armchair GM, and make trades and mock drafts all the time. Most of these trades and mock drafts are proof positive that none of us, especially me, have any business near the roster of an NFL team. Well, except Green Bay. I’d totally love to trade Aaron Rodgers for Christian Hackenberg or a kicker straight up, or let him walk in free agency. I would devastate that team inside of 20 minutes to the point it would take them a decade to recover. But, I digress.Be that as it may, there has been talk of the Vikings moving a player before the season starts for awhile now. Nothing too serious, and we could even call the speculation more fans chirping and theorizing than anything else. But with that little nugget, PA gave it a some serious credibility today. When looking at possible trade scenarios, especially this time of the year, you have to look at depth at a position group, and salary cap hit for the team trading a player away. Compensation is obviously a big component, but let’s focus on the first two for right now and circle back to compensation at the end of the article. Is there is someone on the Vikings roster that meets the criteria for ‘trade candidate’? Let’s take a look.Trae Waynes, CB: So if you believe the Mike Hughes hype, and that Mac Alexander has improved, AND Holton Hill is actually better than advertised against Denver last Saturday, the Vikings have a ton of talent at CB and Waynes might be a guy the Vikings could trade. Minnesota exercised his fifth year option this past Spring, and he is scheduled to make just over $9 million next year, with no dead money against the cap. He played pretty well for the most part last year, and a lot of teams could use a starting CB. His 2018 salary is only $2.2 million, which would be a pretty fair bargain for a good starting CB in today’s NFL.The Vikings have some decisions coming up on contract extensions, and with Anthony Barr’s extension not done yet, it could be that Lord Of The Dark Salary Cap Arts Rob Brzezinski may not have the ability to get a Barr extension done and still have enough money to get Waynes re-signed, too. A trade of Waynes takes $9 million off next year’s cap, and gives them plenty of room to get a Barr deal done without worrying about either putting the franchise tag on Waynes in 2020 or letting him walk with nothing in return.Still Authentic Laquon Treadwell Jersey , though, do you trade a guy that’s developed in to a solid starting CB for an unproven rookie, regardless of how he’s looked in a handful of practices and one preseason game?Latavius Murray, RB: Dalvin Cook looks explosive so far in camp, and with Mike Boone and Roc Thomas playing well, is Murray expendable? When he re-structured his contract earlier this year, it gave him more money this year and voided 2019, so he’ll be an unrestricted free agent after this season. A Murray trade would free up over $5 million in cap space this year and could give the Vikings a way to help front load a Barr extension with more money this year and next year, for example. But would trading the only established vet in the running back room, and a guy that’s expected to be an important part of the offense be a wise move?Trevor Siemian, QB: From a salary cap perspective, trading SIemian is relatively negligible. The Vikings traded for Siemian and a seventh round pick in exchange for a fifth round pick in next year’s draft to solidify the backup QB position. He is in the last year of his rookie contract, making $1.9 million, and would have no money coming off the books in 2019 since he’ll be a free agent. That said, this is a QB starved league. Kyle Sloter performed well, and you could make an argument that he could overtake Siemian for QB2. In a league where QB play is at a premium, and with Kyle Sloter performing well, could the Vikings look to be shopping Siemian as opposed third string?Everson Griffen, DE: Okay, just calm down a sec, and hear me out. Of all the most unrealistic options, Griff is probably as close to untradeable on this roster as anyone.Or is he?He led the Vikings in sacks last year with 13, but a foot injury slowed him down the second half of the season. He’s 30, and is in the first year of a four year extension signed last year. He’s making $12.7 million this year, with a cap hit of $11.6 million. But this is what his contract numbers look like from 2019 through 2022 (all salary numbers per Spotrac, btw): If you’re looking at Griffen from a pure contract perspective, a restructure next year to reduce his cap hit seems like a distinct possibility. Those aren’t always a given, and if a player doesn’t want to do that, you run the risk of cutting them with nothing in return. And if it does get to that point Youth Andrew Sendejo Jersey , the dead money the Vikings would absorb wouldn’t be a really prohibitive number. So, if you like the talent behind him (Stephen Weatherly, Tashawn Bower) and think it might be worth the gamble, and you think Danielle Hunter could step up and become the next elite pass rusher on the defensive line, and you think the addition of Sheldon Richardson means losing a guy like Griff would essentially be an overall wash for the defense as a whole...then trading Griffen and getting a high round pick or another player while you can might not seem that far fetched. With Griffen’s contract no longer on the books, the Vikings have the financial flexibility to do what they want with Barr and probably Richardson, too.Admittedly, there’s a whole lot of ‘if/if/and’ conjecture in each one of these scenarios, and none of these could happen. If the Vikings intent is to trade a player with salary cap reduction in mind, it would seem that if they do pull a trigger on a trade, they’d probably be looking to get a draft pick or picks in return as opposed to another player and their contract. If they would want to do a player for player swap, my guess is they’d look to get an offensive lineman, if you don’t believe Tom Compton, Danny Isidora, or Aviante Collins can get it done. Or they could look to get a wide receiver, if you’re not happy with the depth behind Stefon DIggs and Adam Thielen. My personal belief is that if the Vikings do make a move, it would be as much for salary cap flexibility as compensation, so I think they’d be looking to get draft picks as opposed to players. So, let’s see what happens. If anything. Some things in life are badThey can really make you madOther things just make you swear and curseWhen you’re chewin’ on life’s gristleDon’t grumble! Give a whistle! And this’ll help things turn out for the best. . .aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand. . .Always look on the bright side of lifeSo, we’re officially six games into the Minnesota Vikings’ 2018 season, and we’ve had some serious ups and downs to deal with already. As far as the on-field product is concerned, this team has already won a game that they probably weren’t expected to win this preseason, blown a game that they should have won (or, depending on your perspective, they should have lost), and gotten blown off the field by a team that, on paper, they shouldn’t have had any issues with. But, after these first six games , are we really all that far off from where we expected this team to be? I mean, I’m sure that there are some out there among us that expected the Vikings to be 6-0, but I’m not sure if that was realistic or anything. Obviously, you don’t ever “call” a tie, but if we take a realistic look back at what we expected from this team each week compared to what the Vikings delivered, I think we can agree that this team is pretty much where we expected them to be.Week 1 vs San Francisco - Even with the Niners officially starting the Jimmy Garoppolo era at U.S. Bank Stadium to start the season, I think that most of us expected this one to be a Minnesota victory. That’s exactly what it turned out to be.Expected record: 1-0, Actual record: 1-0Week 2 at Green Bay - With as long as most of us have been Vikings fans, I think we know better than to just expect the Vikings to walk into Green Bay and come out with a win. Granted, the Vikings were favored in this one, but if you’ll recall that was largely because of the hubbub over Aaron Rodgers almost losing his leg after getting it caught in a bear trap or whatever that was all about. Even with that, I don’t think a lot of folks “expected” the Vikings to walk into Lambeau and win the Aaron Rodgers Revenge Game. Yes, they should have won the game in overtime. They also should have lost the game in regulation.Expected record: 1-1, Actual record: 1-0-1Week 3 vs Buffalo - I’m not gonna lie. This game was terrible, and this is the point that we, with good reason, started to doubt this team a bit. The Vikings should have throttled the Bills, but thanks to a combination of their own ineptitude and the Bills simply not backing down, it didn’t happen. Yes, this one was not enjoyable, but it also serves as a reminder that this is a marathon and not a sprint.Expected record: 2-1, Actual record: 1-1-1Week 4 at Los Angeles - We knew going into the season that the Rams were good. As I write this, unless Kansas City gets their act together in a big way, the Rams are going to be the last undefeated team in the NFL. I think we expected a better performance out of the Vikings against the Rams than they showed against Buffalo, and we got one, but the game turned into a track meet and the Vikings just weren’t able to keep up. Again, however, not a totally unexpected result.Expected record: 2-2, Actual record: 1-2-1Week 5 at Philadelphia - Coming off of two consecutive losses Sheldon Richardson Jersey , and with the Eagles coming off of a tough loss, I think that a lot of Vikings fans were expecting a third loss in a row. I know that I was. I predicted it in the Open Thread with all the info for the game that afternoon. But, in a nice surprise, the Vikings went into Philadelphia and got a small measure of revenge for the way the 2017 season ended. Just like this team can lose games they have no business losing, they can also win games they’re not expected to win.Expected record: 2-3, Actual record: 2-2-1Week 6 vs Arizona - With respect to the Cardinals, after what happened with the Bills in Week 3, I think the Vikings were pretty well determined not to let that happen again. Even though it got a bit more interesting than it probably needed to, thanks to a defensive touchdown by Arizona, I don’t think there were many Vikings’ fans that expected the purple to lose this one.Expected record: 3-3, Actual record: 3-2-1See, if you take the “30,000-foot view” of things, it would appear that the Vikings are right where most of us expected them to be. We thought they’d get three wins in their first six games, and that’s exactly what they’ve done. Did they get there the way we thought they’d get there? No. . .no, they have not. But, when the records are sorted out at the end of Week 17 and the NFL decides who makes the playoffs, the fact that you got there is more important than how you got there. There’s still ten games left in this season, and it appears that the Vikings are starting to come around a bit, so there’s still plenty of time for this team to get where we expected them to get to.Sure, we’ll have more disappointments this season. We’re also going to have some pretty great moments along the way, and hopefully all of it will lead to where we want it to. Could things be better right now? Sure, they could. They could also be a lot worse. The Vikings are going to be focusing on the big goal, and as long as they do that, they’ll get to it, regardless of the route they take to make it there.

but there’s no Youth Deatrich Wise Jr Jersey  gap between them on the scoreboard through 30 minutes of action at MetLife Stadium. The two teams traded early touchdowns and Jason Myers‘ field goal at the end of the half made it 10-10 at the break. Myers’ field goal came one play after Jermaine Kearse wiggled for a few extra yards on the team’s final offensive play of the half.Kearse also caught the team’s only touchdown and has four catches for 52 yards overall. Quincy Enunwa has also made plays in the passing game as the Jets offense looks much better than it did in their Week 10 loss to the Bills. The big blemish is an interception that Josh McCown threw under pressure one play after a 41-yard gain by Enunwa set them up in Patriots territory.Penalties have been a big problem for the Patriots. They’ve been flagged seven times for 75 yards and had a handful of first downs overturned by penalties over the first two quarters. One penalty wound up turning out OK, though. The Jets accepted an offensive pass interference penalty on a third down incompletion and the Patriots turned their extra chance into Rob Gronkowski‘s first touchdown pass since Week One.Tom Brady threw that touchdown and was 11-of-17 for 180 yards in the half. He was looked at on the bench for a cut on his right thumb at one point and Evan Washburn of CBS Sports reports he’s wearing a Band-Aid to protect the injury. The NFL trade deadline came and went and the New England Patriots did... nothing. Even though there were multiple rumors swirling around the team leading up to today’s 4:00 p.m. ET deadline, it decided to stand pat and not make any moves before the window closed – the first time since 2015 that the Patriots decided against pulling the trigger on at least one transaction at the deadline.Entering the day, the Patriots’ main focus reportedly appeared to be their wide receiver group. Two of the most popular names linked to the team as potential targets were the Denver Broncos’ Demaryius Thomas and the Detroit Lions’ Golden Tate. However Youth Tom Brady Jersey , neither will wear the the navy and silver anytime soon: even though both did indeed get traded today, they will spend the rest of the 2018 season elsewhere.Other players also seen as potential Patriots trade targets in the days leading up to the deadline also did not find their way to Foxboro. Likewise, the team decided to not move any players off its current roster for outside assets or future draft picks. That being said, New England of course still has the possibility to add players via the open market or from other teams’ practice squads.Overall White Lawrence Guy Jersey , five trades were made today:

in the NFL were still in the dream stages Womens David Andrews Jersey , Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield sat in an apartment near Texas Tech's campus and played video games. It was 2013.Three years later, they appeared to do the same thing on the field."It was a basketball score," Mayfield recalled."That game was crazy," Mahomes said, remembering the October night in 2016 when he and Mayfield re-wrote the NCAA record book. The quarterbacks and friends will renew their old rivalry — and perhaps embark on a new one as pros — Sunday when Mahomes leads Kansas City and the Chiefs' high-flying, high-octane offense, into Cleveland to play Mayfield and the Browns, who are again in disarray following the firings this week of coach Hue Jackson and coordinator Todd Haley. The previous time they met between the hash marks, Mahomes and Mayfield put on a stunning statistical show unlike anything college football had seen before. They combined for 12 touchdown passes, 1,279 yards passing and broke the total yardage mark with 1,708 yards — 854 for each school.Looking back, Mayfield, who threw seven TD passes to Mahomes' five and led the Sooners to a 66-59 win, still can't fathom what happened."That was my 'Welcome back to Lubbock' moment," said Mayfield, who began his college career as a walk-on at Texas Tech before transferring."Weird things happen in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday nights. It is pretty funny Authentic Lawrence Guy Jersey , Oklahoma goes back to Lubbock this weekend and then I am playing Pat on Sunday."Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who has replaced Jackson as Cleveland's interim coach, shook his head in disbelief when given details of the Mahomes-Mayfield shootout."Oh, my gosh," he said. "Setting defenses back a thousand years."No one — not even the quarterbacks themselves — could have envisioned their first meeting five years ago when Mayfield hosted Mahomes on his recruiting trip to Texas Tech would blossom into a friendship and maybe the NFL's next great QB duel.Mayfield was aware of Mahomes' background and talent — son of a major league baseball player, bazooka-like arm — but then got to know him personally during that weekend visit. What Mayfield quickly learned was that, like him, Mahomes is a natural leader."Patrick has always been an easygoing guy," Mayfield said. "That is why those teammates he has always had play for him so hard. He gets their respect not just based on talent — that's easy to respect — but based on who he is as a person. He just has that presence about him that you want to be around. You gravitate towards that so it is fun to see him grow."And my, has Mahomes grown. The 22-year-old leads the league with 26 TD passes and 2,526 yards. He threw six TD passes in Week 2 against Pittsburgh, and Mahomes has made as many jaw-dropping, highlight-reel worthy plays this season as many QBs have in a career.Mahomes' arm strength has drawn rave reviews. Ask any coach, player, scout or reporter who has seen him play about him, and there's usually a tale about one of his throws.Mayfield said he's "absolutely" jealous of Mahomes' rocket right arm."There was a play in that college game, he was rolling to his left, flicked it and it went about 65 in the air for a touchdown back of the end zone," Mayfield said Authentic Shaq Mason Jersey , remembering the OU-Texas Tech classic in '16. "He does stuff that you can't even think of even being possible."Mayfield was surprised Mahomes wasn't taken in 2017 with the No. 1 pick, which ended up being Browns defensive end Myles Garrett."Talent-wise, I thought he should have been. I love Myles but," Mayfield said with a smile."Coming from the Texas Tech system, there are always your skeptics about people doubting the fact that all he did was sit back there and throw the ball. He threw it 88 times in our game, but when it comes down to it, throwing the ball is throwing the ball, and he is really good at it."So is Mayfield. While Mahomes only started one game as a rookie last season, Mayfield was thrust into the lineup in Week 3 when Tyrod Taylor was hurt.Mayfield doesn't have nearly the same supporting cast as Mahomes, but he's put up respectable numbers and feels he's learning with every snap."His talent is through the roof," Mahomes said of Mayfield. "He is going to keep getting better every single week. He has already had a lot of success. The sky is the limit for him."On Sunday, they'll go at it again — pass for pass, play for play — in what appears to be a mismatch with the Chiefs rolling and the Browns reeling. But beyond the score, the NFL could get its first glimpse at a budding QB rivalry. It's not Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning, but that one started somewhere too."I would absolutely not say that it going to be Brady-Manning right now, but it is humbling to be in that conversation," Mayfield said."If he keeps playing that way, there is no reason why it would not be on his side of things. Now, I just have to pick up my side and play better."Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will need a huge game against the Jaguars Running back Rex Burkhead is battling a concussion and rookie Sony Michel has a knee injury Womens Julian Edelman Jersey , while Jeremy Hill is on the injured reserve. Wide receiver Julian Edelman is suspended and Chris Hogan was a ghost against the Houston Texans. Tight end Jacob Hollister is fighting an injury of his own.The New England Patriots need tight end Rob Gronkowski to have the game of his life against the Jacksonville Jaguars because there’s simply no one else to carry the offense.Who are the players that you can rely on producing in the Patriots offense this week? Phillip Dorsett had the game of his career against the Texans and it would be too much to ask him to elevate to another level of production this week; I’d be thrilled if he could come anywhere close to replicating it against A.J. Bouye or Jalen Ramsey. Maybe Hogan can have a rebound game and draw away some attention.James White can catch the ball out of the backfield, but that’s a tall order against Myles Jack and Telvin Smith. White isn’t a major threat to run the ball, which could make the Patriots offense one-dimensional and allow Jacksonville to drop extra players into coverage.Beyond those two- and maybe Hogan- there’s Cordarrelle Patterson, who is still developing a role in the offense; Dwayne Allen, who hasn’t been a big target in New England; ...and James Develin?Unless you want to heap a load of production on the recently signed Corey Coleman, Bennie Fowler, or Kenjon Barner, or believe that this is the year that Matthew Slater breaks out as a receiver, then Gronkowski will be the centerpiece of the offense and more.Fortunately, Tom Brady and the Patriots trust Gronkowski to produce, no matter the circumstance.Gronkowski is dependable, when healthy, and he acknowledges that he and Brady have built their rapport through “a lot of practice, no doubt.” No one would be surprised to see Gronk erupt for a huge day, even if he’s covered by Ramsey or bracketed by the Jaguars linebackers and safeties.Gronkowski’s had 19 multi-touchdown games over the course of his career, but he’s exceeded 150 receiving yards just three times. He might have to combine those two milestones on Sunday.Last week, Gronkowski collected 7 receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown. He’ll have to do more than that to beat the Jaguars if the rest of the offense plays like they did in the opener. And they’ll have to be great to get a win in Jacksonville.

While last year’s AFC Championship Game was played in Foxboro, today’s rematch between the New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars will take place in sunny Authentic Jonathan Jones Jersey Florida, roughly 1,000 miles south from where the two teams met in January. It is the Patriots’ first road game of the season and simultaneously one of the longest journeys the team will have to go on over the next four months as a look at its regular season travel log shows:Added up, the Patriots will travel 11,576 miles during the regular season – a decrease when compared to 2017: New England was on the road for a combined 14,860 miles last year, including a trip Mexico City via Denver. The distances are far shorter this year, with Jacksonville and Miami the destinations farthest away. The aforementioned 11 Womens Rex Burkhead Jersey ,576 miles rank the Patriots seventh league-wide and clearly below the average of 15,595 miles. While the distances look to be favorable to New England when compared to last year, the quality of opponents speaks a slightly different story: the Patriots will play four of last year’s playoff games on the road this season in the Jaguars, Bills, Titans and Steelers. In 2017, for comparison, New England traveled to three postseason teams from one year earlier (the Oakland Raiders in Mexico, plus the Steelers and Dolphins). As we head into Week 10 of the NFL season, we’re taking our first look at the playoff picture Authentic Danny Shelton Jersey , and the top two teams have separated themselves from the pack. The Chiefs are the top team in the conference, but the Patriots are only a game behind and have the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Chiefs also have the Chargers to contend with in the AFC West, so Kansas City can’t get complacent. Here’s how the race looks before Week 10:LEADERS1. Kansas City (8-1): Owns a one-game lead in the conference and a 1.5-game lead in the division.2. New England (7-2): The Patriots appear destined to get their usual bye week. 3. Pittsburgh (5-2-1): After a sluggish start, the Steelers now control the AFC North.4. Houston (6-3): The Texans are threatening to run away with the AFC South.5. L.A. Chargers (6-2): They’d be a dangerous wild card.6. Cincinnati (5-3): Marvin Lewis is on pace to save his job by getting the Bengals back to the playoffs.OUTSIDE LOOKING IN7. Miami (5-4): They won’t catch the Patriots, but the Dolphins are very much alive in wild card contention.8. Tennessee (4-4): : The Titans won a playoff game last season and fired Mike Mularkey anyway. Will they even get to the playoffs with Mike Vrabel?9. Baltimore (4-5): John Harbaugh may need a winning streak and a playoff berth to save his job.10. Jacksonville (3-5): The Jaguars currently own the tiebreaker over the Colts, based on having a better record in common games.11. Indianapolis (3-5): The Colts look like they could go on a run over the second half of the season, but will it be enough to catch the Texans?12. N.Y. Jets (3-6): The Jets have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Broncos.13. Denver (3-6): Two straight losing seasons could cost Vance Joseph his job.14. Cleveland (2-6-1): The Browns are a little better. They need to get a lot better.15. Buffalo (2-7): They keep losing no matter which of their three quarterbacks play.16. Oakland (1-7): Jon Gruden won’t be making the playoffs in his first year back in Oakland.

one of them an up-and-coming  Womens Russell Okung Jersey quarterback with a big arm and little experience, the other the consummate game manager whose ability to avoid mistakes has served him well over the years. There are also some similarities, though."Very businesslike," Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said. "Alex liked to have a lot of fun in the locker room as well. That's why he's an All-Pro in terms of one of my favorite teammates I've ever had. I think Pat is very similar, where he understands football but likes to go out and have fun."Here's another similarity the Chiefs would like to see between their current quarterback and his predecessor: Smith finished his time in Kansas City having beaten the Chargers eight straight times. That's the opponent for the start of the Mahomes era on Sunday. The Chiefs traded Smith to Washington in the offseason after getting a glimpse of Mahomes in Week 17 last year, when he dazzled in his starting debut against Denver. The Chiefs' playoff positioning had been wrapped up and most of the starters got the day off, but Mahomes nevertheless put on a show against the Broncos' starting defense in a come-from-behind road win.Mahomes thinks that experience, combined with a year spent working side-by-side with Smith, will serve him well when he leads the Chiefs into their season opener."Having the preseason games helped," he said. "Being able to start off with those games and then having that Denver game last year and seeing where I need to be at with my emotions and at the same time play with a lot of passion is something that will help me going into this one."Did it feel any different walking into the practice facility this week as the No. 1 quarterback?"Not necessarily," Mahomes said. "I get to compete and play a sport that I love. I get to play with a lot of guys I have built great relationships with. So I am going to just go out there and have fun and hopefully win a football game."If that sounds like a starter wise beyond his years, well, that's because in many ways Mahomes has been groomed for this moment since his childhood. His father, Pat Mahomes, spent 11 years in the major leagues, and his boy spent quite a few of those years bouncing around the clubhouse. He understands the pressures and responsibilities of being a professional athlete."I haven't seen any nerves. I know he's excited to play. I think the whole team is," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said."Probably both teams are, to get out of camp and get this thing going. He is excited. I haven't seen anything that would tell you he's nervous. He's a pretty confident kid in his ability and I think he just wants to get going and play the game."Fans in Kansas City may be even more eager to see Mahomes on the field. They've waited an entire generation for the Chiefs to draft a quarterback in the first round, and see him develop into the clear starter. The last to do so was Todd Blackledge , who flamed out after he was selected in 1983 — the same draft that produced John Elway, Jim Kelly and Dan Marino.Starters since then have ranged from Steve DeBerg and Dave Krieg to Joe Montana, who was on the downward side of his illustrious career. There was Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac, and Damon Huard and Tyler Thigpen, and a four-year stretch under Matt Cassel marked by mediocrity at best. When it comes to expectations for Mahomes, the floor is mediocrity. The ceiling? A championship. The march toward that begins when the Chiefs visit the Chargers on Sunday."Probably walking off the field hopefully with a win would be the best moment I am looking forward to," Mahomes said. "Hopefully we can go out there and compete on every aspect, every side of the ball — offense, defense, special teams — and come out with the win."Notes: Safety Eric Berry (heel) did not practice Thursday, making it even more unlikely that he plays against the Chargers. Berry is still considered day to day, but he has been out since early in training camp. "We've kept great communication with him," Reid said. "We'll just see how it goes." Opposing defenses are learning that Austin Ekeler is just as effective a running back as Melvin Gordon for the Los Angeles Chargers. The second-year running back scored his third touchdown of the season on a 44-yard swing pass from Philip Rivers to lead the Chargers to a 26-10 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday."He's got some juice now. He can really run," Rivers said. "I think he's one of those, you don't realize how fast he is running until you have to chase him, which I never have, but I've seen a lot of guys do it. That was impressive."Ekeler, signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017, made two Oakland defenders miss at the Raiders 40 Youth Caleb Sturgis Jersey , got a block from Keenan Allen and then went up the left sideline, putting the Chargers ahead for good."Moves into open space, that's how you can make your money in this league as a running back," Ekeler said. "That's where I think I excel and what I'm going to keep doing, winning one-on-ones."Ekeler has 410 yards from scrimmage, with 207 coming via receptions. He has six touchdowns in his career and is three away from tying Dan Reeves for most TD catches by an undrafted player in his first two years in the league. Reeves had nine with Dallas 1965-66."You wish we would have signed him. He's running hard, he's making people miss," Raiders coach Jon Gruden said. "He has the flexibility to line up in the backfield or in the slot. He's a sharp customer who knows how to play the game."Ekeler and Gordon are averaging 201 yards from scrimmage for the Chargers. Gordon is third among NFL running backs at 119 yards per game, and Ekeler is 12th at 82.Gordon had 120 yards from scrimmage against the Raiders (58 rushing, 62 receiving), including a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to put the Chargers up 17-3.Rivers was 22 of 27 for 339 yards with two touchdowns and a 143.4 passer rating. He completed passes to seven players, but as he noted, no one had a big yardage day."It wasn't an eight-catch, 150-yard day for anybody, but you look up and there's 330 yards passing and a lot of guys touched the ball," Rivers said. "It was efficient. We ran it well enough and we didn't turn it over. When you do that you have a good chance for a win."Here are some other things to know from Sunday's Raiders-Chargers game:STURGIS' FUTURE IN DOUBT?The Chargers signed punter Donnie Jones last Tuesday to also be the holder on field goals and extra points, thinking that it would help solve Caleb Sturgis' struggles. If the results of one game are any indication, it hasn't.Sturgis made two field goals, but he also missed his fourth extra point of the season and was wide left on a 48-yard attempt on the last play of the first half. The sixth-year kicker has missed four extra points this season , equaling the amount he had over three seasons in Philadelphia from 2015-17."The extra point did bother me a little bit, but we'll figure out what happened there," said Chargers coach Anthony Lynn when asked about Sturgis' struggles. "He's been kicking with a lot of confidence, so I'm not concerned about it."ON THE LINEThe Raiders had a pair of rookie tackles starting in a game for the first time since the 1970 merger, with Kolton Miller at left tackle and Brandon Parker on the right side. Oakland allowed three sacks, but quarterback Derek Carr wasn't ready to single them out."I thought they played really well for it being a tough environment for them, against a great blitz package," Carr said. "Everyone has plays. It's easier to just find, 'Ah, rookie offensive tackle, let's blame him."COSTLY MISTAKEOakland was putting together a nice drive during the third quarter and got to the Chargers' 1 before Derek Carr threw an interception to Melvin Imgram in the end zone. A touchdown would have brought the Raiders within 10 with 1:05 remaining in the third quarter, but it basically ended all hopes for a comeback.Carr has more interceptions (eight) than touchdowns (seven) after the first five games in Gruden's offense. Gruden says that the fifth-year quarterback is progressing, but Carr admitted after the game that he needs to quit pressing."Those are the kinds of things where with my aggressiveness and his aggressiveness, we are learning and he does a great job communicating with me after stuff like that," Carr said. "He doesn't want me to stop being aggressive, but at the same time not forcing them, not pressing and sometimes to not make too many plays."LONDON CALLINGBoth teams have "home" games at London's Wembley Stadium the next two weeks. The Raiders will face the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday, while the Chargers take on the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 21.Oakland will practice at its facility before flying to London later in the week. Los Angeles will stay in Cleveland for four days after facing the Browns next Sunday before making the trip abroad.Follow Joe Reedy at joereedy

Top Defensive Player? NFL Insiders predict: Who will be the best defender in 2021? - ESPNChargers pass-rusher Joey Bosa Womens Isaac Rochell Jersey , who is already among the very best and will be only 26 years old when the 2021 season begins. While opponents can sometimes neutralize a defensive back by avoiding him in coverage, it's tougher to hide from a player such as Bosa.NFL Future Power Rankings: Projecting the next three seasons - Louis Riddick, Mike Sando, and Field Yates (insider)What could change for the better: Is Anthony Lynn a first-rate head coach? Will he grow into one? There's not enough information to answer in the affirmative, which is why the Chargers ranked 21st in that area, the team's lowest ranking in any category. That variable and Rivers' staying power as an upper-tier quarterback could boost a Chargers team that otherwise appears close to contending. -- SandoA look at Chargers’ Melvin Ingram dominance throughout the years - Gavino BorquezIngram was part of a dynamic pass-rushing duo with defensive end Joey Bosa who saw his jersey and gloves retired in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for becoming the first player in NFL history to record 19 sacks in his first 20 games. Well, here we are.The highly-anticipated match-up against that other LA team has come and gone and, for the most part, I feel about as lousy as I expected to.The Chargers fell to Sean McVay and the Rams in the Coliseum in front of a wild, rowdy crowd that put the pedal to the metal from the get-go on their disdain for the Bolts.Hell , before the game, two planes were seen flying messages over the stadium, supposedly paid for by a combination of ex-Chargers fans, Rams, and Raiders fans. The pettiness knows no bounds.Who knows if all the badgering, smack-talking, and pettiness really got into the heads of the Chargers, but their play on the field did them no favors in trying to prove a point to the skeptical LA fan base that they are also worthy of their dollars and attention. The final score to this game was actuallt pretty misleading in a myriad of ways. For one, looking at how well the Rams moved the ball all game, their final point total could have been much higher. On the flip-side, the Chargers could have put up just as many points had it not been for their inability to move the ball following a turnover by their defense. The Chargers and Rams both recorded two turnovers, apiece. The Chargers turned their takeaways into two three-and-outs, the second of the two leading to the blocked punt by the Rams for a touchdown. The Rams on the other hand? They turned their first takeaway, a rare Keenan Allen fumble, into a 53-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Cooper Kupp. To add some insult to injury, cornerback Trevor Williams was beat badly on the play and Desmond King Jersey , when he had the chance to bring Kupp down, he failed and ultimately looked as if he gave up while he still had a chance to corral the receiver. At the end of the day, there’s always going to be the would’ve, could’ve, should’ve.“They beat themselves.”“They couldn’t stop shooting themselves in the foot.”It’s going to be a week filled with these statements. I just hope the Chargers don’t rest their heads on any of it. With a softer schedule going forward, Anthony Lynn and his staff need to deal with these issues immediately and limit the ineptitude from here on out.As I always do, once the heavy, heavy flow of depression and frustration is finally vented out, here come’s the irresponsible optimism that keeps me afloat through the next 7 days.Guys made plays this week. It’s time to give them their rightfully-deserved kudos.SurgedS Derwin JamesCan’t stop. Won’t stop. James is BALLER. Dare I say, a SHOT-CALLER?The rookie-sensation continues his relentless pursuit of being the best player on the team following another sensational performance against one of the top offenses in the NFL.While his ability as a pas-rusher has been on full-display during the team’s first two games of the season, James reminded everyone that he is still a defensive back as he plucked a Jared Goff pass out of the air for his first career interception. So after just three career games, the Florida State product still leads the team with a pair of sacks and is now tied for the team lead in interceptions as fellow safety Adrian Phillips, linebacker Kyzir White, and James all have one interception to their names.WR Mike WilliamsYeah it took a little while but the Mike Williams breakout game finally happened and the only thing that could have made it better is if the Chargers were able to walk away with the victory. The best part about this is that Williams’ first touchdown came against CB Marcus Peters, a known arch-nemesis of Philip Rivers who has four interceptions against the QB in their previous three match-ups.In the middle of the first, with the Chargers looking to respond to a Rams score Authentic Russell Okung Jersey , Rivers tossed a rainbow to Williams in the back of the end zone as the wideout had a step on #22. With a full-extension, Williams was able to haul it in, holding on through the contact with the ground. At first, Williams was slow to get up, looking as if he simply landed on the ball and had the air knocked out of him. Luckily for Rivers and company, he soon returned to do more damage. In the third quarter, in response to the earlier mentioned Kupp touchdown, the Chargers marched down the field and Rivers found Williams once again on a modified corner route. Although Williams caught the ball a few yards short of paydirt, he showed off the strength that made him the seventh-overall pick in last year’s draft by giving a defender a ride into the endzone for his second touchdown of the game.Mike-Will finished the game with four catches for 81 yards and the pair of touchdowns, all team-highs with the yards and touchdowns also being the highest of his young career.StaticDEs Isaac Rochell & Melvin IngramI wasn’t a fan of the team’s decision to leave Rochell in charge of Bosa’s role on the defense during his absence. Rochell was the team’s seventh round draft pick in 2017 and, at the time, was deemed the lesser of the two Notre Dame defensive linemen that I wanted the team to draft. After resembling more of a run-stopper instead of someone who could get after the quarterback, Rochell underwent a lifestyle change over the offseason, turning to a plant-based diet in order to re-shape his body with the goal of becoming a better athlete. So far this young season, the effort has yet to pay off as he remains sack-less through the first three weeks.Ingram, on the other hand , has 1.5 sacks to his name but his overall performance up to this point has been slightly forgettable. His sacks came against the Bills in a blowout victory so those are simply what they are. In the other two contests against the Chiefs and Rams, the actual good teams the Chargers have played, he recorded just a single tackle in each. It’s unfortunately far too obvious how much Ingram has relied on Bosa’s influence for his own productivity. As much as Ingram likes to gloat about being able to play any position on the football field, he hasn’t even shown the propensity to play his actual position to the best of his ability.Rochell hasn’t offered much at all and only makes matters worse when he gets rag-dolled by the Rams’ Andrew Whitworth, the oldest left tackle in the NFL.My hope going forward is that the team decides to give Uchenna Nwosu some more run at the “big” end position to see if he can create a spark where this defense has been lacking.CBs Trevor Williams & Casey HaywardNow I hoped that i’d never have a reason to include these players in this section but, here we are. After the recent tilt with the Rams, Williams currently sits as Pro Football Focus’ 52nd-ranked cornerback in the NFL. Not good.“But I’m sure Hayward is still doing pretty decent for himself, right?”Wrong. Hayward comes in as PFF’s 73rd-ranked cornerback in all of football, just a year removed from being their #1 during the 2017 season. For what it’s worth, I do not think this is a trend that will continue. Williams and Hayward didn’t just forget how to cover over the offseason. Let’s take into account who they have played against and understand that both Andy Reid and Sean McVay are masterminds when it comes to play-calling and schematically erasing an opposing team’s difference-makers.Give them some time. Their next game against the 49ers should be a nice bounce-back game for their confidence, as long as they take care of business from the start.

all-time passing yardage record Authentic Josh LeRibeus Jersey , and if he breaks the record tonight, the league will pause the game to recognize the achievement.Brees has 71,740 career passing yards. That puts him in second place all time, 200 yards behind Peyton Manning, who retired with 71,940 yards. So when Brees tops 201 passing yards today, the league will pause the game for a small ceremony.According to Mike Triplett of ESPN, that ceremony will feature the ball used on Brees’s record-breaking pass going to David Baker, the president of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Youth Austin Carr Jersey , and a video tribute from Manning will be played. If Brees breaks the record in a hurry-up situation or another time when it’s not feasible to halt the game for a ceremony, the league won’t delay the game. But it’s a major record Brees is poised to break, and the NFL wants to recognize him right when it happens.Chase Holden’s Fantasy Football Start’ Em and Sit’ Em: Saints Vs. Giants What’s good, Who Dat Nation!? I hope you’ve all had an amazing week celebrating the road win against those pesky Falcons of Atlanta. The Saints had some amazing fantasy production out of Drew Brees last week, and it’s safe to say that he’s not slowing down anytime soon. That man was on FIRE! He Put up 3 TDs and 396 passing yards, and as a bonus had 2 rushing TDs. I’m convinced that No. 9 is out here aging like Benjamin Button (He was from New Orleans, you know). So now, the black and gold are traveling to East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on the New York Football Giants Ken Crawley Jersey , and I see another huge fantasy day in the making. As a reminder before we get to business, all of my work will be based on PPR leagues, and obvious starters like Alvin Kamara, Drew Brees and Michael Thomas will not be written about. Each week, I will evaluate both teams and list my picks from the match ups.Start’ EmPhoto by Tim Warner/Getty ImagesEli Manning - (NYG) - Remember back in 2015 when the Giants came to the Superdome and helped create one of the most exciting games of the season? If not, you need to head over to YouTube and watch those highlights NOW! Manning is not your every week starting QB, but against the Saints defense this week, he is a must start for those who stream QBs in any league. My guess is that Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard should see the end zone multiple times, so if you have them you might as well play them too. Cameron Meredith (NO) - Now that the first touchdown is out of the way for Meredith , I definitely see him getting more productive in this offense. I predicted that the rookie Tre’Quan Smith would have been more involved after comments that Coach Sean Payton made last week, but it’s looking like they’re going with more of the sure thing in Meredith. This game is going to be another shootout, so in your 14-16 man leagues, it makes since to give this guy a roster spot and start him against this average defense. Sit’ EmPhoto by Scott Cunningham/Getty ImagesBenjamin Watson (NO) - The Giants are only giving up 4.7 points on average to the TE position this year, and I believe that trend continues on Sunday. Watson is going to have his time soon, but because of the Saints defense keeping “The Big Easy Trio” (Brees, Kamara, Thomas) on their toes, the ball isn’t getting around to many other players. Stash him away this week and let him age like fine wine. We know what Watson is capable of. Rhett Ellison (NYG) - Since Evan Ingram is out healing up Cheap Drew Brees Jersey , Ellison has came in to take his place. The back up TE had a pretty decent outing last week against the Texans, but don’t expect it this week. As it turns out, the one thing the Saints and Giants defense have in common is how well they are covering the TE position this year. The Saints are only allowing 4.8 fantasy points, which is too close to trust any tight end in this week’s matchup. I myself am an Evan Ingram owner, and I turned to another option this week (He’s playing against the Jets) because of these numbers. I hope you all enjoy your NFL Sunday, and be sure to yell WHO DAT at every person you can to remind them that although our defense is slacking we are very much still in this!  at the midway point of the NFL season and with a once vaunted and top-ranked defense suddenly looking inward for answers."I'm very concerned Youth Drew Brees Jersey ," Ravens nose tackle Michael Pierce said. "We have to find a way to correct this ASAP if we want to reach our goal, which is to get to the playoffs."For the second week in row, the league's top-ranked defense struggled against an NFC South opponent.Baltimore allowed Cam Newton and the Panthers to roll up 386 yards on offense and score 24 first half points in a 36-21 loss Sunday in a game that wasn't as close as the score indicated. Newton scored three touchdowns in all, and the Panthers used misdirection plays to keep the Ravens off balance.Baltimore never sacked Newton and failed to create a turnover. It didn't help that Joe Flacco threw two interceptions and running back Alex Collins fumbled, leading to a Carolina touchdown. But the defense, which has been the strength of this team, once again wasn't there. The loss comes one week after Baltimore's defense allowed Drew Brees to throw for 212 yards and two touchdowns and the Saints to run for 134 yards in a 24-23 loss."You know, we are 4-4. We're an average team," safety Eric Weddle said. "We just lost, got blown out. So we're, I wouldn't say rock bottom, but we have to look at ourselves and get back to work."Division foes Pittsburgh (4-2-1) and Cincinnati (5-3) both won Sunday, leaving the Ravens in third and in need of a win next week when they host the Steelers, who've won three straight."It's a huge game," Weddle said. "Obviously a divisional game leading into the bye. The way our division is shaping up, this is a big game for us. Look at yourself — don't get emotional , don't get sensitive. This is part of the National Football League, so get coached up, look at the things you didn't do well and move on. Don't let this loss linger in any way. Just continue to get better. That's all we can do. "Added Pierce: "It's personal pride and we have to man up to what everybody's doing and see what is going on, because two weeks in a row we didn't get the job done."Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs said the team will need to rely on its veteran leaders to get through this tough time — and stay even keeled along the way."We are not going to get too low, but the attention to detail increases now," Suggs said. "We have to play better in the red zone, and we have to play better situational football. Therefore, the game doesn't get so on top of us. We are extremely disappointed, but we have enough veterans on this team and we understand the task at hand. Especially with all these home games we've got coming, so if we handle our business at home, we will be all right."Ravens Coach John Harbaugh said he was "surprised" at his team's disappointing performance, particularly after they jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and seemed to have momentum."Yeah, I didn't expect that," Harbaugh said. "We just didn't click in anything. We weren't good in any area. There was nothing we did well and that starts with me. I mean, that's where it belongs, so put it on me and then move forward and get ready for Pittsburgh."Pete Prisco names five Saints to 2018’s top 100 players Top 100 lists (listings? How is a listing different from a ranking?) are all the rage in the too-long NFL offseason Color Rush Patrick Robinson Jersey , and the latest one to drop comes from CBS Sports senior writer Pete Prisco.Prisco makes his list with one eye reflecting back on the 2017 results, and the other gazing forward to predict future success.Or something like that.Either way, he likes the team the Saints have built.Five of their players make the top 100 list, with none placing lower than 45th overall. It’s noteworthy that three of the five Saints were added since 2016, and two of those are just entering their second seasons.Let’s get into it:It feels like it shouldn’t surprise that Jordan has leapt past Brees, but here we are.Jordan is a still-young All-Pro (turning 29-years old next month) who should’ve gotten more Defensive Player of the Year votes for his efforts. The Saints are so fortunate to have him spearheading a resurgent defense and mentoring Marcus Davenport. The gap between Aaron Rodgers (#1), Tom Brady (#2), and Brees (#20) isn’t as broad as Prisco exaggerates. That’ll become more clear if the Chicago Bears and New York Jets of the world begin to grow backbones.Brady’s Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was a nightmare, seeing him stuck on the sideline watching his defense allow two-thirds of third and fourth downs to be converted and ceding 500-plus yards.Try living that life for three years, Tom.Lattimore really might be the best cornerback in the NFL this season. He’s at least in the conversation with Marcus Peters and Jalen Ramsey. It’ll be incredibly fun to watch him continue to grow and compete.Don’t look now but the Saints have an elite, top-five type of wide receiver for the first time in decades.I’ve got all the love and appreciation in the world for Marques Colston, but Thomas is already making real headway into setting new franchise receiving records.Remember when people questioned this pick because the Saints already had Adrian Peterson and Travaris Cadet on the roster?Last year, Prisco had just two Saints (Drew Brees and Cameron Jordan) in his top 100 list, though left tackle Terron Armstead warranted an honorable mention.Maybe next year the Saints will rival the Jacksonville Jaguars (eight) and Los Angeles Rams (seven) for the most players on Prisco’s list.

the Los Angeles Chargers' New Orleans Saints Hats rookie safety is learning how football can be an entirely different game at its highest level."The speed is, uh, a little different," James said. "There's more guys that can run. And big guys! You'll see big guys flashing across your face, and you'll be like, 'Dang, why are they moving that fast?' You don't see it in college, but you're out there and a guy is 300 pounds and he's running, and you're just like, 'Oh, man New Orleans Saints Hoodie , that's unbelievable.'"James is getting up to speed quickly in the Chargers' secondary, and he looks increasingly likely to grab a starting job.Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley acknowledged Monday that the Chargers think James could start in their regular season opener alongside Jahleel Addae. James is still learning on the job, but his progress in the Bolts' first three preseason games has been exciting to his coaches."You can see his confidence growing in the system," Bradley said. "If he makes a mistake, now he knows. He'll come over and go, 'That was on me.' I couldn't say that a couple of weeks ago."James was expected to step up quickly as a first-round pick, and his path to a starting spot was cleared when the Chargers allowed Tre Boston to leave in the offseason. But James still has to prove that Bradley can rely on him, and he's getting a comprehensive test during the Chargers' preseason schedule, which concludes at San Francisco on Thursday night.James' 106 preseason snaps are the most among the Chargers' defensive players."I feel like the more reps I get, the more knowledge will come," James said. "Gus does a great job of saying Customized New Orleans Saints Jerseys , 'When you're uncomfortable, that's when you get the most growth.' Right now I'm kind of uncomfortable, and I feel like I'm getting better each day."Bradley used James and Addae at both strong safety and free safety last weekend against New Orleans, deliberately testing their versatility. James played many roles at Florida State, but learning those roles in Bradley's defense requires study and repetition.James played in the box effectively as a strong safety for the Seminoles, while playing deep as a free safety isn't quite as familiar. He's also getting chances to rush the passer from multiple spots in the formation, adding more experiences to his skill set.James made mistakes against the Saints, but also made a handful of outstanding plays — including his first interception against the quarterback who will likely end this season as the most prolific passer in NFL history. James sniffed out Drew Brees' long pass to Ted Ginn and leaped to make an outstanding catch."There is going to be a learning curve," Bradley said. "I think he's going to go out there and he'll make a mistake here and there, but he will also make some splash plays. Just like the (interception). You saw him make a great play, and then there's a play (later) where you go , 'OK, let's teach on this.' There might be some coaching on the sideline if that takes place on some plays, but he has gradually gotten better."While he learns on the job, James has immediately taken a vocal role on the Chargers' defense, fulfilling his self-declared intention on draft day to become a team leader."He's already talking," Bradley said. "When you come off the field, he's talking to the guys, 'Hey, that's not good enough. This is good enough. This is what we're looking to do. That's a great job by the D-line.' He's very animated. He has a lot of energy. I think that personality will show more when he gains even more confidence in the system."NFC South after Week 4: New Orleans on Top What a great week for the New Orleans Saints! The Saints are currently sitting atop the NFC South after Week 4. Here’s how it all happened.Photo by Al Bello/Getty ImagesComing into Week 4, the New Orleans Saints (2-1) were the only team to face a an opponent with a losing record in the 1-2 New York Giants. The Saints took care of business Sunday afternoon, beating the Giants by a final score of 33-18.The early slate of games was just as productive for the Saints New Orleans Saints T-Shirt , as the 2-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers got throttled by the Chicago Bears, 48-10. It got so bad for Tampa Bay that the Buccaneers pulled interim starter Ryan Fitzpatrick halfway through the game for the returning Jameis Winston (who promptly threw an interception on his first drive). The loss dropped the Buccaneers to 2-2.The Atlanta Falcons (1-2) lost to the Cincinnati Bengals, by giving up a lead late (whaaaaaat? that’s so unlike the Falcons...) to Andy Dalton and AJ Green for a 37-36 final score. The loss pushed the Falcons further down to 1-3.With the 2-1 Carolina Panthers on a Bye, this means the Saints (3-1) are in first place all alone. The Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are tied for second at 2-2, the Atlanta Falcons are in the basement at 1-3.Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty ImagesIn Week 5, it is Tampa Bay’s turn for their bye. The Carolina Panthers return for their bye to face Eli Manning and the New York Giants in Carolina. The Atlanta Falcons travel to Pittsburgh to face the underperforming Pittsburgh Steelers. Both of those games are at noon CST.The New Orleans Saints will be playing in prime time in Week 5, hosting the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football. There will be plenty of storylines to follow for the game, the most prominent being the fact that Drew Brees is only 201 passing yards away from breaking Peyton Manning’s all time career passing record. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. First things first: #BeattheRedskins

Dave here Youth Mike Hughes Jersey , and Drew, Ted and I got together to look at the win over the Arizona Cardinals one last time, and ahead to the trip to play the New York Jets. Did you know that we have only played the Jets 10 times in Vikings history, and only won twice? That seems remarkable. Never in New York/New Jersey. Wow! There’s some trivia for you.Ted gives us his impression of the squad last week, what he liked and what worried him a bit, but his overall happiness of the win. He goes onto discuss the gameplan and what the team needs to do coming ahead in the next 3 game stretch, and the 3 games after that. That results in the Reverend Drew’s sermon on how you “Gotta Have Faith.” Preach it, Drew!Drew gets into his numbers. My favorite being that the Vikings are number 1 in 3rd down defense. Yeah, baby! We talk about the possible causes for ACL injury increases, as we lament Mike Hughes’ rookie season coming to an end. Is it the 27 yard line?We break down the Jets, talking offense versus defense, and vice versa. Overall though, it was fun and there were lots of laughs, some colorful descriptions Womens Danielle Hunter Jersey , Drew singing and some good football talk headed your way.Like, subscribe, and ring that damn bell! Hughes had an interception return for a touchdown and a team-leading three pass breakups in Minnesota's 24-16 victory over San Francisco ."You can kind of tell the way he carries himself that he's not going to freeze up on the big stage," free safety Harrison Smith said.Production like that provided affirmation of general manager Rick Spielman's decision to ignore needs on the offensive line when Hughes became available with the 30th overall selection."We expect him to go out there and do that," coach Mike Zimmer said. "I mean, that's why we drafted him. Everybody was complaining about taking that corner. I'm glad we had him."Mackensie Alexander's ankle injury kept him out of the season opener, so Hughes took over as the slot cornerback in the nickel package, a position used more often than the weak side linebacker these days and essentially a starting role. Then cornerback Trae Waynes hurt his knee in the second quarter. With Terence Newman now an assistant coach, Hughes was promoted again to the outside opposite Xavier Rhodes."If a player tells you he doesn't get butterflies before a game, he's lying. I think it's natural," Hughes said. "After the first play, I was good. I settled in and went through my calls and played within the scheme."Though all five 49ers kickoffs went for touchbacks, depriving Hughes of any return opportunities Youth Kyle Rudolph Jersey , he played the gunner spot on the coverage team and caught a punt to down the ball at the 4-yard line in the first quarter. His time covering kicks was reduced after his defensive responsibility increased, but special teams coordinator Mike Priefer has lauded his ability since he arrived."There's a drive in there that you can see. I've been around a lot of young people, and I think he's one of the guys that really understands what he needs to do to get better," Priefer said. "He knows he hasn't arrived yet, even though he was a first-round draft pick. I love his attitude, I love his effort, and he's improving every day."Hughes made some mistakes, of course, on a handful of long gains by the 49ers. He has a lot to learn yet about the game. His attention to detail, however, has stood out to Vikings coaches and players since organized practices began in the spring. So has his athleticism, confidence and instincts. That's atypical for a rookie."Honestly, he plays like he's been in the league before," Rhodes said Womens Tom Compton Jersey , "and I think years down the road he's going to be one of the best."Hughes wasn't the only inexperienced player thrust into unexpected action for the Vikings, who despite their status as Super Bowl contender have the NFC's youngest squad with an average age of 25.47 years on the opening roster.Backup safety Jayron Kearse replaced Hughes at the nickel back spot. Though he's been a valuable special teams players over his first two years, Kearse's only career start as a rookie in 2016 at Chicago was best remembered for a 69-yard run by Bears running back Jordan Howard aided by an awkward overplay by Kearse as he approached in tackling position."It was something you couldn't look past," Kearse said, "but now I had another opportunity and I just wanted to show I'm not the same player I was."The Vikings play at Green Bay on Sunday, when the secondary will have to be as sharp as ever if Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers plays on his sprained knee . Hughes and Kearse, at least, will be one game better for it."Showing that I can get in and cover a slot, showing that I can get in and cover a tight end," Kearse said, "that was big for me to show the coaches that I can be more than just a special teams player."

from kickoff of today’s contest between the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles. Latavius Murray will be the starter at running back in place of Cook, and Stephen Weatherly will continue to start at defensive end in Griffen’s absence. Rookie defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes is active today for the first time in his NFL career. And now, on to the home team.Philadelphia EaglesDE Derek BarnettOT Jordan MailataDT Haloti NgataG Matt PryorQB Nate SudfeldRB Darren SprolesG Chance WarmackNgata is a bit of a surprise, even though he was listed as “questionable” on the Eagles’ final injury report. His absence will affect the Eagles’ defensive line depth a bit. Will it be enough to get the Vikings’ run game going in any way? We shall see. There are your inactive lists, folks. The Open Thread for the first quarter will be up at approximately half past 2, Central time. The Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles have played against each other 27 times throughout the years, dating back to their first matchup in 1962. According to Eagles fans, only one of those games has ever mattered.[Waits for Philly fans to throw full beer cans and scream “THIRTY-EIGHT TO SEVEN!!!!1!!1” a few dozen times]OK, now that we’re done with that Sheldon Richardson Jersey , let’s take our weekly look back at the Vikings’ history against their upcoming opponent. As always, the numbers in this story are brought to you by the good folks at Pro Football Reference.Total regular season and playoff games between the Vikings and the Eagles: 27All-time record: Regular season: Vikings, 13-10. Playoffs: Eagles, 4-0.Total Vikings points scored, head-to-head: 594 (22.0 points/game)Total Eagles points scored, head-to-head: 650 (24.1 points/game)Longest Vikings winning streak vs Eagles: 7, their first seven meetings from 28 Oct 1962 to 3 Dec 1978Longest Eagles winning streak vs Vikings: 5, from 11 November 2001 to 4 January 2009Most recent Vikings road win in series: 28 December 2010 (final score 24-14, the infamous Tuesday night game)Most recent Eagles home win in series: 21 January 2018 (final score SHUT UP)Biggest Vikings road win in series: 21 points, 15 December 1963 (final score 34-13)Biggest Eagles home win in series: 31 points Cheap Stefon Diggs Jersey , twice (48-17 on 11 November 2001 and...SHUT UP)Current streak: Eagles, 2 winsObviously, the Vikings can’t do anything on Sunday that will make up for the thrashing they took in last year’s NFC Championship Game. Even if they win by a score of 38-7 or better, it’s a regular season game and the Eagles already have their shiny new Super Bowl rings. What the Vikings can do is try to find the wheels that fell off of their defense last January and haven’t been put back on yet. The Los Angeles Rams will likely expose a lot of defenses throughout the course of the season, but the way they out-schemed the Vikings in every way on that side of the ball was uncharacteristic of what we’re used to seeing from a Mike Zimmer-coached defense. The offense looked much better last week, but Minnesota is still dead last in rushing and pressures allowed through four weeks. The Vikings need to clean things up in a hurry. Meanwhile, the defending champs are coming off a disappointing loss of their own. They squandered a two touchdown lead on the road to the Tennessee Titans, allowing three straight fourth down conversions in the game-clinching overtime touchdown drive. Most of the key pieces have returned for a shot at a repeat in Philadelphia. However, throughout the preseason and through the first four weeks of the regular season, this doesn’t look like the Eagles team that rampaged their way to a title eight months ago. While the Vikings dominated this series early on , winning the first seven matchups, the Eagles have seven of the past nine between the two teams. Both of the Vikings wins during that stretch were rather unexpected. In the aforementioned Tuesday night game, Joe Webb and the 5-9 Vikings upset the 10-4 Eagles that were favored by 14.5 points at kickoff. Philadelphia was favored by seven points in 2013 when Matt Asiata had the hilarious stat line of 30 rushes, 51 yards, and 3 touchdowns in a 48-30 Vikings win.The most recent regular season game between the Vikings and Eagles wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing contest. In Week 7 of 2016, each team turned the ball over four times. Despite putting up paltry offensive numbers, Carson Wentz and the Eagles won 21-10 thanks in large part to six sacks of Sam Bradford. It was the first loss of the season for the Vikings, who would stumble to a 3-8 finish after starting 5-0. That’s a brief look at some of the history between the Vikings and the Eagles as we prepare for Sunday’s game in Philly. We’ll have more for you as we get closer to kickoff.

Week 2 Patriots vs Jaguars: The New England Patriots suffered their first defeat of the 2018 season earlier today: New England went on the road and was beaten 31-20 by the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was a lackluster performance by the reigning AFC champions in all three phases of the game – but one that still had at least some silver linings. Let’s take a look at three of them.QB Tom BradyDespite being under constant pressure especially early during the contest New England Patriots Hats , Brady was still able to deliver a solid performance. He was not perfect by any means, but the future Hall of Famer again was the reason why the Patriots were in the game up until almost the very end. Along the way, the 41-year old completed 24 of his 35 pass attempts for 234 yards and a pair of touchdowns – while also converting a third down at one point on a 10-yard scramble.RB Sony MichelThe numbers – 10 rushes for 34 yards and one catch for seven more – tell only half the story when it comes to Sony Michel’s NFL debut. Going against one of the league’s top defensive fronts, the 31st overall selection of this year’s draft displayed some of the traits that made him a first-round pick: he was powerful as a runner, and used all over the formation. Certainly an encouraging first step from the Patriots’ future number one running back.RB James WhiteWhile Michel’s performance was encouraging New England Patriots Hoodie , James White’s was actually productive: the Patriots’ primary receiving back was the team’s most potent offensive playmaker today and finished with seven receptions for 73 yards and three carries for 11 yards. Serving as Tom Brady’s safety blanket and primary target in the passing game, White helped keep the passing game on track even when others failed to step up.With all that in mind, who is your choice for this week’s game ball? Rod Rust, who coached Hall of Fame defensive lineman "Mean" Joe Greene at North Texas and later served as defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots' 1985 Super Bowl team, has died. He was 90.The Patriots announced Rust's death Wednesday. He died Tuesday at his home in Ocean City Customized New England Patriots Jerseys , New Jersey, according to family friend Bobby April.Rust spent more than four decades as a football coach, mostly as a defensive coordinator in the NFL with Kansas City, New England, Pittsburgh , the New York Giants and Atlanta. He spent one season as an NFL head coach with a Patriots team that went 1-15 in 1990. He also held several coaching jobs in the CFL.He began his coaching career at the college level, serving as an assistant with New Mexico and Stanford in the early 1960s before landing his first head coaching job at North Texas in 1967. Rust moved to the CFL with Montreal in 1973 and took his first NFL job as linebackers coach with Philadelphia in 1976 under then-new head coach Dick Vermeil.Rust left the Eagles to become the Chiefs' defensive coordinator in 1978 and then took over the same post with the Patriots in 1983. Three seasons later, he was part of the first Super Bowl team in Patriots history. That New England team had defeated Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino's Dolphins in the AFC title game in Miami before falling to the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl 20 in New Orleans.

will face this season already came in week six when the Kansas City Chiefs’ high-flying offense visited Gillette Stadium. However , the Green Bay Packers’ — despite some inconsistency so far this season — cannot be underestimated either and will pose one of the bigger hurdles for the unit to clear this season. In order to do it, the group needs to find a way to accomplish the following three goals.Force Aaron Rodgers to go to his depth targetsAlmost half of the 286 passes Green Bay’s quarterbacks have attempted so far this season were thrown to wide receiver Davante Adams and tight end Jimmy Graham. The duo ranks one and two in most major receiving categories on the Packers offense and naturally should be treated as such: New England needs to find a way to slow the two down and by extension force quarterback Aaron Rodgers to look elsewhere. How can they do that? Having a shutdown cornerback helps, and Stephon Gilmore is just that. He should spend the majority of the night guarding Adams, who leads Green Bay with 52 catches for 690 yards and six touchdowns. While the 25-year old obviously is a tough matchup for any defensive back, Gilmore has shown time and again this year that he is up to the challenge of taking away physically imposing wideouts.Meanwhile, strong safety Patrick Chung should be used on Graham. Like Gilmore, the veteran has had success against elite tight ends this year — think the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce — which makes him a logical defender to guard the big tight end tonight. Taking away Graham and Adams should, in turn Youth Joe Thuney Jersey , take Rodgers a bit out of his comfort zone and force depth players to win their matchups.Set the edge wellThe Patriots defense has faced plenty of mobile quarterbacks in 2018 — from Deshaun Watson to Patrick Mahomes to Mitchell Trubisky — but it has not always been able to properly contain them. Tonight will mark the next chance for Brian Flores’ unit to match up against a highly athletic passer in Aaron Rodgers, and keeping him in the pocket to limit the damage he can do with his feet has to be imperative.First and foremost, the edge defenders cannot be too aggressive. This is exactly what happened against Trubisky in week seven and it allowed the Chicago Bears’ quarterback to burn the group for 81 yards on six carries. Rodgers, who has 18 carries for 116 yards so far this season, is a similar threat when allowed to break the pocket and pushing too far upfield from the edge could be fatal.Contain should therefore be high up on New England’s list of defensive priorities. This, of course, does not just hold true when it comes to the quarterback but also to limiting Green Bay’s ground game. While Ty Montgomery is no longer part of the equation due to him getting traded to Baltimore, Aaron Jones and his 6.2 yards per carry cannot be allowed to get to the outside as well.Don’t hand out extra chancesGreen Bay’s offense may not be the most efficient in the league this season Youth Ja'Whaun Bentley Jersey , but that does not mean it is not a dangerous unit to play against. Consequently, the Patriots need to bring their A-game not just when it comes to execution but also when it comes to mentality: the unit cannot allow its opponent to get extra chances through penalties or cheap third down conversions. This, of course, holds true against every offense in the NFL but it is even more important against an offensive powerhouse like the Packers. If the Patriots defense can play a sound game and not commit avoidable errors, it would go a long way to supporting the offense to keep up in what could very well turn out to be a shootout. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has set dozens of NFL records over the course of his illustrious career in the league. Today during his team’s 31-17 win over the visiting Green Bay Packers, the consensus greatest quarterback of all time set another all-time mark: the 41-year old is now the first quarterback in NFL history to gain more than 80,000 total yards in a career.Brady set the new record in the early fourth quarter after the Patriots recovered a Packers fumble. A 17-yard pass to Phillip Dorsett on a 3rd and 7 put Brady ahead of long-time rival and fellow future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning on the combined passing yards list for regular season and playoffs. Manning ended his career with 79,978 combined yards — passing Youth Tom Brady Jersey , rushing, receiving —, Brady’s connection with Dorsett put him at 79,990.The former sixth-round draft pick turned five-time Super Bowl champion added more yardage to his total later in the game and when all was set and done ended the day at 80,074. More importantly, at least in the grand scheme of the 2018 season, is that Brady played a key role in helping New England achieve its seventh win of the year.

Jimmy Garoppolo's season-ending knee injury has passed. The San Francisco 49ers know they now must prepare to go ahead with the rest of what was supposed to be a promising season with backup C.J. Beathard at the helm instead of the player who immediately became the face of the franchise."There's a lot of people out there doubting us and counting us out Shaq Mason Jersey ," Beathard said Wednesday. "I think everybody in the building is excited and we're ready to get rolling and win some games moving forward."There's good reason to doubt the 49ers, who were 1-10 last year under Brian Hoyer and Beathard before Garoppolo took over as starter following a midseason trade from New England. He immediately injected life into a struggling franchise by winning all five of his starts to end last season. The 49ers (1-2) rewarded him in the offseason with a $137.5 million, five-year contract and entered this season with high hopes that might have been dashed when Garoppolo blew out his left knee when he planted and tried to cut up field rather than run out of bounds late in a 38-27 loss at Kansas City.Coach Kyle Shanahan didn't try to sugarcoat the gloom when he delivered the bad news to his players Monday, telling them it was understandable to feel down. The players appreciated that sentiment even if they know they must move on and prepare for Sunday's road game against the Los Angeles Chargers."It's cool to see your head coach acknowledge that, yeah, we all feel it for a little bit," fullback Kyle Juszczyk said. "That's OK to acknowledge it but we don't need to dwell on it. We just need to find what we need to do to get better."The Niners under Garoppolo were a dynamic offense. They ranked sixth in the league in scoring and in yards per play in eight starts with him under center. That was a big jump after ranking in the bottom 10 of the league in both categories before Garoppolo took over. The 49ers believe Beathard's experience playing as a rookie, the opportunity to watch Garoppolo succeed in the offense and going through an entire offseason program will make Beathard a better player this time around. He got one snap last week after Garoppolo got hurt and threw a touchdown pass to George Kittle. The play was negated by a penalty Cheap Stephen Gostkowski Jersey , the 49ers settled for a field goal and the offense never got the ball back."You see it in his decision making," Juszczyk said. "He's just much more decisive out there. You can tell things aren't spinning in his head so much. He gets the ball out quick and has a lot of confidence."Beathard started five games as a rookie last year, completing 54.9 percent of his passes with four touchdowns, six interceptions, 6.4 yards per attempt and a 69.2 passer rating that was second lowest in the NFL.He wasn't helped by the fact leading receiver Pierre Garcon had gone down with a season-ending injury, the running game was inconsistent and the offensive line was hampered by injuries. That contributed to Beathard taking 19 sacks last year but also allowed him to prove his toughness to his teammates."That wasn't exactly the situation I wanted to put C.J. into," Shanahan said. "That's why I think myself and a lot of our team earned a lot of respect for him. Not all the weeks, but some weeks Cheap Malcom Brown Jersey , he was in a very tough situation. He never wavered, never saw his confidence change and when he eventually was benched and we put Jimmy in, you would think a guy would be less confident after that. You guys can ask him, but I truly believe he was more confident. Even though he struggled at times, he truly believed he could do it. Those are the kind of guys you want to go to battle with."NOTES: San Francisco worked out several quarterbacks Tuesday but decided to promote Nick Mullens from the practice squad to serve as the backup for now. Mullens originally joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and spent all last year on the practice squad. ... RB Matt Breida (knee) and WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) were limited in practice. ... S Adrian Colbert (hip), G Joshua Garnett (toe), G Mike Person (knee), CB Richard Sherman (calf) , T Joe Staley (not injury related), S Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) did not practice. ... The 49ers signed DL Ryan Delaire, OL Christian DiLauro and DB Dexter McCoil to the practice squad.2018 Patriots roster cuts: New England keeps Keionta Davis and Ted Karras on its 53-man roster The NFL’s cutdown deadline came and went, and the New England Patriots have not yet officially announced the roster moves they have made in order to get below the 53 men threshold. However, the first names of bubble players to stay on the team and survive cuts have already emerged: three of the depth defensive backs have made the team, as did a pair of linemen.According to NESN’s Doug Kyed, defensive edge Keionta Davis has made the did offensive lineman Ted Karras (per the Providence Journal’s Mark Daniels):Davis and Karas were two of the pleasant surprises this summer. Both were fighting for their roster lives but rose to the occasion: Davis saw plenty of time with the starting defense and responded well by registering 1.5 sacks and three quarterback hits during the preseason. He will now serve as a rotational piece of the Patriots’ defensive edge rotation, and likely see the field on passing down as a sub rusher.Ted Karras Cheap Joe Thuney Jersey , meanwhile, returns for a third year as New England’s primary backup along the interior offensive line. The former sixth-round draft pick has started games in both of his previous seasons with the team, and is a valuable and experienced backup option at center and guard.
