Odds are Arizona Cardinals Womens Hoodie   a funny thing. When the Super Bowl odds continue to come out the Arizona Cardinals find themselves near the bottom. This isn’t surprising in the least, but what was a bit surprising, one of the oddest odds of the 2019 season was that of the 2019 NFL Draft first overall pick odds. The people at Sports Betting Dime set the odds for the team that will have 2019 NFL Draft first overall pick and the team with the best odds before the season gets started is the Buffalo Bills. They sit at 5/1.Meanwhile, something I didn’t expect, is that the Arizona Cardinals, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have the second best odds at 7/1.The faith, or lack of, in the Arizona Cardinals is pretty stark.Yet, teams like the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets have worse odds, both at 8/1, than the Cardinals. It’s definitely eye-opening to see the lack of belief in the Cardinals heading into 2018, especially after the last five years under Bruce Arians.New team, new beliefs.Bird Droppings: Arizona Cardinals ready for preseason, Christian Kirk has fanbase waiting for Saturday and more Happy Wednesday one and all Cheap Customized Arizona Cardinals Jerseys , hope your week has been a good one so far.We are half way through the week and almost to our first Arizona Cardinals preseason game of 2018, which should be a whole lot of fun. That means plenty of news coming out of the day, so let’s get the day started with a look around the web on the Arizona Cardinals.Fan Club Ready For Christian Kirk’s NFL DebutNotes: Shipley placed on IR; Nkemdiche, Pierre sit with minor injuriesPreseason Snaps Coming For Sam Bradford - But How Many?Quarterback sees benefit of playing, despite inherent riskYou've Got Mail: #CardsCamp Before The ChargersArizona Cardinals Home: The official source of the latest Cardinals headlines, news, videos, photos, tickets, rosters and game day information#CardsCamp Highlights - Preppin'Take A look at highlights from Tuesday morning's practice as the team preps for their first preseason game on Saturday agains the LA Chargers.Kirk - 'Putting My Best Foot Forward'Rookie WR Christian Kirk speaks with the media on how his camp has gone so far and his excitement for Saturday's game.Wilks - 'Trying To Create A Mindset'Head Coach Steve Wilks speaks to the media after Tuesday's practice outside.Cards Daily - Game WeekLisa Matthews brings you the latest from #CardsCamp following Tuesday's practice.Sam Bradford's knee will be tested briefly in first preseason game - Arizona Cardinals Blog- ESPNAfter missing all but two games last season, Sam Bradford will make his preseason debut with the Cardinals as the starting quarterback on Saturday.Cardinals' food menu items include 7-pound Gridiron Burger ChallengeThe headliner of the Arizona Cardinals' new food menu options is clearly the Gridiron Burger where, for $75, fans take on a seven-pound "burger" made up of five patties, five hot dogs, five brats www.arizonacardinalsteamonline.com , 20 slices of cheese, eight pieces of bacon, eight chicken tenders and 12 ounces of fries.Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald continues to give backArizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is entering his 15th season with the Cardinals and continues to carry his spirit of giving to the Arizona community and nationwide.Corey Peters: Cardinals' Mason Cole 'has physical talent' to start at centerArizona Cardinals tackle Corey Peters discussed playing against rookie center Mason Cole and the defensive line depth chart, including likely starter Robert Nkemdiche.Arizona Cardinals place A.Q. The Morning After: Raiders flat performance falls squarely on Jon Gruden’s shoulders | Silver and Black PrideThis was a divisional rivalry that could have gotten the Raiders out of the AFC West cellar with a victory Gabe Jackson Jersey , and Oakland just completely whiffed on even making the game competitive. It wasn’t just a loss, it was an implosion. That is on Jon Gruden not having his team ready for this game, he needs to make sure the team is better prepared and motivated for such an important game.Gruden: ‘My fingerprints are all over’ Raiders’ start | NFL.comWhen asked Monday whether he can take anything positive from Oakland’s league-worst 1-4 start, Gruden attempted to put a sunny face on the Raiders’ situation, ultimately placing the most blame on himself.Raiders now tied for worst record in the NFL but it may not be all bad news | Silver and Black PrideThe good news for the Raiders is three of the other five one-win teams are coming up soon on the Raiders’ schedule and the combined record of the teams they face the next five games is 8-17.Marshawn Lynch upset at being denied ball at goal line and ‘cute’ play leads to interception, Gruden says ‘he and I have a lot in common’ | Silver and Black PrideLynch was told the stat that since the start of Super Bowl XLIX, teams with Lynch have now thrown four times from the one-yard line and are 0-4 including two interceptions.Turnover margin weighs heavily into Raiders’ 1-4 start | SF ChronicleThe Raiders’ minus-4 turnover margin is tied for third worst in the league, and four of their five takeaways came in their lone win of the season against the Browns. The Raiders’ offensive woes are (literally) larger than Carr, Gruden | Sacramento BeeStill, Gruden chastised himself for the call, and Carr did the same for throwing the terrible interception — as both should have done — but what wasn’t mentioned in their self-flagellations was the fact that the Raiders’ offensive line was manhandled for four quarters on Sunday.AFC WestBroncos release Marquette King | Pro Football TalkThe Broncos did as expected and released punter Marquette King from injured reserve, Jim Trotter of NFL Media reports.Top Head-Coaching Candidates If Denver Decides To Fire Vance Joseph | CBS DenverGM John Elway could soon pull the plug on the Joseph era in Denver. And when he does, what coaches are out there to replace him?Why the Chiefs won’t fade after another fast start | ESPN.comOddly for a team with little recent playoff success -- the Chiefs have lost 11 of their past 12 postseason games -- 2018 doesn’t feel like early season fortune on the path to eventual slaughter.Andy Reid: Injuries could force Chiefs into market for outside linebacker | Kansas City StarThe Chiefs finished Sunday’s game with second-year pro Tanoh Kpassagnon and rookie Breeland Speaks manning the outside linebacker spots and there are no players behind them on the depth chart. The Chargers’ celebration in front of angry Raiders fans summed up the move to LA | For the WinAs if it hadn’t been made abundantly clear that the Chargers’ move to Los Angeles was a terrible idea, one look at Raiders fans’ turnout at StubHub Center should do the trick. What we learned from the Chargers’ 26-10 victory over the Raiders | LA TimesAt 36 and making his 197th consecutive start, Rivers passed for 339 yards and two touchdowns on a day when he barely stood out. The 300-yard passing game was the 59th of his career and second of the season. He now has 13 touchdown passes and just two interceptions. NFL NewsDrew Brees sets NFL all-time passing record, and he might put that record out of reach | Yahoo SportsBrees has a nice lead on everyone but Brady, and he’s playing as well as ever. Getting to 80,000 yards seems likely as long as Brees wants to play at least a couple more seasons, and a run at 90,000 is a reach but not entirely impossible. Only five quarterbacks have ever passed for more than 53,063 career yards. How coaching not to lose is costing NFL teams | SB NationWeek in and week out, we see coaches outsmart themselves, especially in high leverage situations. We often see coaches decide to be conservative, when aggressiveness is the right call. Maybe it’s panic, stubbornness, a lack of creativity or just plain bad coaching, but it happens often, and we saw more of it this week.Jets safety sets NFL record for longest no TD interception return and you have to see it | CBS SportsMaye needed 105 yards to get to the end zone, but he only made it 104 yards after Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton chased him down and tackled him at the one-yard line. All that work for nothing. Eagles RB Jay Ajayi out for season with torn ACL | NFL.comThe team on Monday placed Ajayi on injured reserve Cheap Derek Carr Jersey , with NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reporting the 25-year-old tore his ACL, a setback that will end his season.Giants to part ways with Ereck Flowers by Tuesday | NFL.comFlowers, a 2015 first-round pick of former Giants general manager Jerry Reese, finally reached the end of his unusually long rope after five weeks that included an embarassing Week 1 performance (broken down in depth by yours truly here) and a benching prior to Week 3. It caps a solid seven months of unrest surrounding Flowers, who was upset by New York’s signing of Nate Solder in the offseason and failed to shift to right tackle successfully. It didn’t take long for Jon Gruden the GM to get in the way of Jon Gruden the head coach in his second stint in Oakland Jon Gruden getting rehired to coach the the Oakland Raiders was a happy occasion for Raider Nation but there was always cause for concern. Gruden the coach is great but Gruden the GM could be a big problem. This is the same guy that led Tony Dungy’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory then flopped due to his personnel moves. He’s also the same guy that implored the Raiders to draft Johnny Manziel over Khalil Mack in 2014.But suddenly, quarterback Derek Carr is the reason why he came back to coach the Raiders. And instead of accepting Mack, his best player, as his guy on defense, he traded him. Mack was never his guy but there’s no reason to trade your best player. Not that there is such a thing but Gruden didn’t even get good value for a future Hall of Famer. The Raiders are getting 2019 1st-round pick, 2020 1st-round pick, 2020 3rd-round pick, 2019 6th-round pick. The Chicago Bears are getting Khalil Mack, a 2020 2nd-round round pick and a conditional 2020 5th-round pick. Why are the Raiders giving up picks in this deal? This deal was bad enough without involving the picks!Who gives up draft capital while giving up a future Hall of Fame player? The Raiders can only hope the 1st-round picks they get from the Bears make half the impact Mack makes put together. In 2016, when Carr made his 4th-quarter comebacks and game winning drives to take the Raiders to a 12-4, Mack’s plays on defense sealed the win. But all Gruden could say is, “We weren’t very good last year on defense with Mack.” The Raiders weren’t very good on offense last year with Carr faltering under pressure and receiver Amari Cooper dropping passes either. But rightfullly so, he’s excited to rebuild the offense around the two talented youngsters. He should have shown the same excitement over rebuilding the defense around Mack instead of trading him.Gruden spent a lot of money this offseason on unproven veterans to replace some of GM Reggie McKenzie’s proven and unproven players. Conventional wisdom says unproven young players are worth more than unproven veterans because you can still mold them. But Gruden hasn’t followed that wisdom, opting for unproven vets over All-Pros.Tahir Whitehead, who hasn’t proven he can cover yet, is getting $6 million a year. There aren’t too many linebackers that can’t rush the passer getting $6 million a year and the ones that are have proven they can cover. Derek Johnson who’s getting $2.2 million a year, can cover but can’t stop the run. So that’s a 2-down LB at $6 million and a 1-down LB at $2.2 million to replace Bowman, who did it all in 2017 for less than that his last two years in the NFL.It looks like Marcus Gilchrist and his 64.5 PFF grade is getting $4.5 million to replace Karl Joseph and his 67.7 grade in the starting lineup. Gilchrist is versatile but hasn’t proven to be better than average at anything he does. So spending $4.5 million on him to start over Joseph, who’s younger and had a slightly better grade than him, isn’t a good move either. If the Raiders left Whitehead, Gilchrist and Johnson where they were and kept Bowman and Mack with everything else being the same, which defense is better? That’s two All-Pros for three average guys. Is this an ego thing?Does Gruden have some Al Davis in him? Davis had a problem with Marcus Allen because he was a star in Los Angeles before Davis and his Raiders moved into town. There were times that Davis was more into players that no one thought so highly of until he got credit for making them stars. Gruden is going to get credit for salvaging Carr and Cooper after they had bad years last year. But Mack maintained his superstar status through good times and bad with the Raiders.Bowman came along last year and proved he had plenty of game left in him too. Perhaps Gruden wants to go back to 1972, when the Miami Dolphins had the no-name defense.Does Gruden want to make it all about himself and Carr like Bill Belichick and Tom Brady on the New England Patriots? The moves he’s made this offseason have made me wonder.

All the starters played, but aside from Jake Matthews and Wes Schweitzer, who had largely solid days, the Steelers pass rush had their way with Atlanta and stymied the run.The Falcons didn’t do anything particularly unique with their snaps to counteract this, such as getting Logan Paulsen or Ricky Ortiz in to block more often, even though I’m not sure that would have staunched the bleeding. The result was that Ryan was under pressure and sailing throws much of the day, and the passing attack had its quietest day of the year since Week 1. It remains interesting to see the Falcons slowly edging up Marvin Hall’s playing time and giving an even split to Freeman and Coleman in Free’s first week back, but it didn’t end up meaning much. The offensive line becomes a concern going forward, as it has mixed some very solid weeks with bad ones, and has been susceptible to blitzes all year long. Mack and Schraeder have looked a touch off this season, and if they’re aging into their decline phases, the Falcons had better hope they can find some contingency plans in 2019. DefenseDamontae Kazee: 61Robert Alford: 59De’Vondre Campbell: 52Duke Riley: 51Jordan Richards: 47Desmond Trufant: 47Terrell McClain: 38Vic Beasley: 38Brian Poole: 37Deadrin Senat: 36Takkarist McKinley: 36Brooks Reed: 34Foye Oluokun: 33Jack Crawford: 27Steven Means: 23Michael Bennett: 18Sharrod Neasman: 14Isaiah Oliver: 10Bruce Carter: 5Kemal Ishmael: 4Keith Tandy: 1It’s all within and whatnot, as Dan Quinn reminds us, but the way the team divvied up snaps this week on defense proved to be deeply confusing.Start with Terrell McClain. He was an interesting addition to this team when he figured to be the fourth defensive tackle, but he’s gotten an outsized number of snaps for weeks now. Pressed into duty with Grady Jarrett out, McClain continued to contribute virtually nothing as a pass rusher, which we expect, but also did not appear on first watch to have been much of a factor against the run. On a day where James Conner went from stiff to stud, that was a problem. The defensive line has been an off-and-on liability all year, with only Grady Jarrett and Takk really standing out, and nobody really did much of anything against the Steelers on Sunday up front.Further back, the Falcons got Bruce Carter into the game for five whole snaps as part of a sudden, random personnel shift to put more of their run-stopping reserves into the game. It appeared to work, however temporarily, but the Falcons didn’t stick with it. Instead, the Falcons gave a ton of snaps to De’Vondre Campbell (always a good decision), Duke Riley (less of a good decision), and Foye Oluokun (a mixed bag). The team also gave Jordan Richards a considerable amount of run at safety Youth Austin Hooper Jersey , with largely predictable results. At some point very soon the Falcons are going to need to make a decision about whether they’re going to make their very best effort to win games, or if they’re going to try to win while simultaneously giving young players the playing time they need to properly evaluate them. If it’s the former, I don’t think they can justify starting Richards over Keith Tandy and not giving Carter and/or Oluokun a look at middle linebacker over Riley. I don’t know if that’s going to improve things, of course, but the Falcons are accumulating a wealth of evidence that what they’re doing now is leading to truly awful results. The Falcons just don’t have a lot of alternatives, which I understand, but their reluctance to consider the ones they do have does continue to genuinely baffle me. Special Teams Russell Gage: 23Keith Tandy: 19Kemal Ishmael: 18Bruce Carter: 18Marvin Hall: 18Foye Oluokun: 17Eric Saubert: 15Logan Paulsen: 14Matt Bosher: 11Jordan Richards: 11Robert Alford: 10Justin Hardy: 10The Falcons continue to have lackluster results on returns, especially with Justin Hardy back there, even if their coverage units are solid. Matt Bosher also has been quietly struggling this season, and those struggles were capped off by a blocked punt against the Steelers where the booth talked about how Pittsburgh must have noticed how many steps Bosher takes before punting. That’s ominous.3 key takeaways from Falcons vs. Panthers It’s hard to call the second game of the season a must-win, but the Falcons really needed to avoid the 0-2 start that sinks most postseason dreams. They did just that by putting up 31 points against a good Panthers defense that completely shutdown Ezekiel Elliott just the week prior. Here are my key takeaways from the game.Best game Sarkisian has calledAfter a week where people were calling for his head, offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian called his best game yet for the Falcons. Using a mixture of play action, balance between the run and pass and a variety of route patterns and movement, he had the Carolina defense off-balance for most of the game. Some will undoubtedly focus on his play calls in the last two minutes, but it should not offset what was an otherwise very well called game. Matt Ryan bounced back big timeAlong the same lines as above, Matt Ryan received (and deserved) a lot of criticism for his game in week one. As he usually does, he bounced back in impressive fashion. Minus a few deep passes that were off the mark, the highly paid QB was dialed in all afternoon. He finished with 23 completions on 28 attempts (one was a drop) for 272 yards and 2 TDs. He added in 2 more TDs with his legs and orchestrated an offense that dominated in the red zone this week. With the injuries to the defense, this team needs the best version of Ryan it can get. He gave us just that today.Don’t write off the defense just yetYes, they gave up 24 to the Panthers and nearly let them tie it at the end of the. Yes, there were some ugly plays and missed tackles by guys like Duke Riley. And yes, the pass rush did not dominate the way we wanted against an offensive line made up of popsicle sticks held together by week old bubblegum. Keep in mind, though, this was the first real start for several of these guys. Damontae Kazee - who was ejected early - was starting for the first time. Jordan Richards was just recently signed by the Falcons. Duke Riley filled in as a starter at middle linebacker for the first time. Hopefully, this is the floor of what we can expect from this defense. I do not think we’ll see a top-10 or maybe even top-15 defense this year, but there’s no reason to think that the performance today is as good as they’ll get. Let’s see what they look like in a few weeks before we push the panic button. What are your takeaways from the Falcons victory?

The Detroit Lions’ red zone struggles were back on display this past Sunday against the Cowboys. Though they did score once Womens Kenny Golladay Jersey , thanks to a phenomenal run from rookie Kerryon Johnson, earlier in the game, the Lions were forced to settle for a field goal, pushing an early lead to four instead of eight. Combine that with Detroit’s other three games, and you get literally the worst red zone offense in the entire NFL.This is particularly troubling when you consider how good the Lions’ offense has been outside of the red area. According to Football Outsiders, the Lions are ninth in average yards per drive, 14th in points per drive, and they only go three-and-out 14 percent of the time, which is good for third best. Also interesting of note, the other three teams with poor red zone offenses are the three teams that have defeated Detroit thus far. It should come as no surprise that the Lions’ red zone defense (by touchdown percentage) is third-best in the league—allowing a touchdown just 35.7 percent of the time. Matt Millen is stepping down from his announcing role with Big Ten Network to focus on his health. As you may remember, Millen is dealing with a rare heart disease and fighting for his life. Obviously, this news doesn’t seem like a good sign, but we’re hoping for the best for the former Lions general manager: The odds to win the NFC North are pretty evenly dispersed... except for the Lions. Per Bovada.LV, here’s what the odds look like after Week 4:Packers: 8/5Bears: 2/1Vikings: 2/1Lions: 18/1Yikes.Hey Youth Matthew Stafford Jersey , the Lions aren’t terrible in the first half. Hooray? Recapping film review pieces from around the Lions beat: Justin Rogers has five observations, and Kyle Meinke describes how the Lions’ plan to force Dak Prescott to throw backfired.Don’t look at this. Close out your window right now. Save yourself: Everybody loves on-field audio. The Lions provided the “Sights and Sounds” for their Week 4 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Lions players in superhero costumes + helping out families dealing with pediatric cancer = awesome.Monday open thread: Do you feel better, worse or the same about the Lions after their win over the Packers? Victory Monday is a beautiful thing, y’all. Victory Monday heading into a bye week is even better.Victory Monday heading into bye after beating your biggest rival is sublime. It was far from a perfect win for the Detroit Lions, but look around the league right now. Show me more than a handful of perfect teams out there. As of Monday morning, there are only four teams in the conference with more wins than the Lions. 2-3 is not an ideal record for the Lions after five games, but it is anything but a death knell for this franchise. At the very least, this Lions team has proven they can hang with some of the best teams in the league. So on this Victory Monday we ask the same thing we ask every Monday during the season:Do you feel better, worse or the same after the Lions’ win over the Packers? My answer: I feel a little better in the short term, but the same in the long term. On the most basic level, simply the enjoyment out of this job and interacting with you all changed drastically with a win over the Packers. Had Detroit lost to Green Bay, fans would’ve checked out, cynicism would’ve reigned supreme for the next 14 days, and most people wouldn’t want to hear analysis http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/devon-kennard-jersey-authentic , they’d tell us to “shut up, the season is over.” We’ve obviously been there plenty of times, and it’s not so fun. Instead, fans will continue to be interested in this team, if for no other reason than they’re completely unpredictable and therefore fascinating. All of that being said, I feel no more confident in this team’s 2018 chances than I did last week. The offense is still playing pretty well, but the defense is still a mess. Sure, they held Aaron Rodgers scoreless in the first half, but the Packers’ receiving corps was extremely shorthanded, and Green Bay moved the ball effortlessly for most of the game through the air. There’s still no pass rush, there’s still sketchy run defense, and the secondary comes and goes. I’m happy because the Lions won, but I am not budging from my 8-8- preseason prediction. Your turn.

BOSTON — Rick Porcello shoots to become the Boston Red Sox’s first 10-game winner of the season when he pitches for Boston against the Los Angeles Angels in the second game of a three-game series at Fenway Park Wednesday night.

The Red Sox remained a half-game behind the New York Yankees in the American League East by pounding out 10 extra-base hits in a 9-1 rout of the struggling Angels Tuesday night. They now send Porcello (9-3 Youth Cordy Glenn Jersey , 3.44 ERA) out to face the Angels’ Andrew Heaney (4-5, 3.43) in the middle game of the series.

Boston is 4-0 against the Angels this season, winning those games by a combined count of 36-4.

“We haven’t solved them,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said after the Red Sox (53-27) hit four homers and six doubles in Tuesday’s win. “We’ve tried to make some adjustments. We’re going to obviously work on it tonight and try to make some adjustments and hopefully have a better shot tomorrow.

“They’ve taken it to us. There’s no way to sugarcoat it. We’ve got to do a lot of things better.

Porcello, who is 2-1 in four June starts, is just 7-7 with 5.51 ERA in 17 career starts against the Angels, who have lost 11 of their last 15 games.

In his one start against Los Angeles this season, Porcello pitched six shutout innings in Boston’s 9-0 victory on April 18.

Before Tuesday’s game, the Red Sox placed Thursday starter Steven Wright on the 10-day disabled list with a left knee problem. Brian Johnson, who has been in the bullpen, will make the start in the series and homestand finale.

Christian Vazquez and Jackie Bradley Jr. Customized Arizona Cardinals Jerseys , the bottom two hitters in the Boston lineup (a problem spot for the team this season), combined to go 5-for-8 with two homers and five RBIs on Tuesday.

Everyone in the starting lineup except Rafael Devers had at least one hit (in a 14-hit attack) and he scored a run.

“We’re swinging it great, you know, I think all up and down the lineup,” said Mookie Betts, who hit his 20th home run of the season. “It’s kind of contagious. Everybody’s getting hits and what not.”

The ever-streaky Bradley is 6-for-7 in the last two games to raise his batting average to .199.

“You know, he’s been swinging the bat great,” Betts said. “A couple line drives that go five feet one way or the other, we’re looking at a completely different number (average) that’s on the board.”

Heaney is also 2-1 in four June starts and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of his 13 starts this season. He will make only his second appearance against Boston, his first at Fenway. He beat the Red Sox in Anaheim in 2015, yielding two runs in seven innings.

No one on the current Boston roster has more than three at-bats against Heaney. The team is 2-for-14 (.143) against him with Xander Bogaerts collecting both hits in his three at-bats (.667).

Ian Kinsler is 11-for-22 (.500) against Porcello Customized Atlanta Falcons Jerseys , while Albert Pujols is 10-for-29 (.345) with a homer, while Cole Calhoun is 7-for-22 (.318) with two homers. Justin Upton is 2-for-12 (.167) and Luis Valbuena 4-for-19 (.211).

Nick Foles threw a deep pass into the wind on the first play from scrimmage against the Falcons, LeGarrette Blount scored the only touchdown on fourth down and wide receiver Nelson Agholor ran 21 yards on a new play.

The Philadelphia Eagles (14-3) are aggressive no matter what.

They’ll need that approach when they face the Minnesota Vikings (14-3) and their top-ranked defense in the NFC championship game on Sunday.

”You’d probably call me unorthodox with some of the decisions I’ve made on fourth downs and going for it, 2-point conversions, things like that,” Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday.

”Sometimes you just don’t do the norm, you just don’t do what everybody expects you to do and sometimes that can help you. I’m calculated by it, but at the same time, I’m going to make sure that I’m putting our guys in a good position.”

Foles underthrew the long pass to Torrey Smith to start the divisional playoff game, but a pass interference call gave the Eagles a 42-yard gain to the Falcons 25.

Jay Ajayi fumbled on the next play or perhaps the game wouldn’t have come down to a defensive stand at the end to preserve Philadelphia’s 15-10 win.

”Take a shot,” Pederson said explaining his decision to throw long into a stiff wind.

On the touchdown drive early in the second quarter Customized Baltimore Ravens Jerseys , Philadelphia faced third-and-3 from the Falcons 24. Foles faked a pitch to running back Corey Clement and handed off to Agholor on an inside counter with Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson pulling out and leading the way. Agholor took it to the Falcons 3. It was the first time Pederson called the play this season.

”Coach has just had a knack of seemingly calling those at the right time,” offensive coordinator Frank Reich said.

”It comes up different every week. We really work well as a staff together in game planning. Sometimes we think we like something and we go out on the practice field and it doesn’t quite look like it’s ready. So, we have to keep it in the crock pot for another week or start over with a new recipe.”

Three plays later, tight end Trey Burton lined up at fullback and Blount followed his block into the end zone for a 1-yard TD run. Pederson didn’t think twice about going for it instead of kicking a game-tying field goal.

”The ball was just inside the 1-yard line, and we had confidence to go for it in that situation,” Pederson said. ”We were real close and the guys did a great job.”

During the regular season, only Green Bay (28) went for it on fourth down more than Philadelphia (26). The Eagles converted 17 times for 65.4 percent, third-best behind New Orleans (80 percent on 12 for 15) and Jacksonville (76.9 percent on 10 for 13). Minnesota is 1 for 7 on fourth down, fewest attempts in the league.

”You always want to be aggressive,” Foles said. ”I love Coach’s calls.”

AP NFL website:

Shelby Miller did not get the results he wanted Will Dissly Color Rush Jersey , but just being back on the mound for the first time in over a year was a positive for him.

Brian Anderson and Cameron Maybin each drove in two runs to help spoil Miller’s return to the mound after missing over a year for Tommy John surgery as the Miami Marlins beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-5 on Monday night.

”It was so good to be back,” Miller said. ”I felt really good most of the game. I think my command could have been a little bit better, but overall I think the results don’t play out as good as I pitched.”

Miller (0-1) made his first start since April 23, 2017 and gave up six hits and five runs in 3 2/3 innings.

”It’s unfortunate it didn’t go the way he wanted as far as winning the game and going deep in the game, things he’s conditioned for, but just getting back on the mound and doing what he did today was really nice for all of us to see,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said.

He struck out five and walked two while throwing 85 pitches.

”It’s about getting out of there healthy, it’s about getting back on the bump after being off for 14 months, that alone is a goal reach in itself,” Miller said. ”I’m just excited to be back and I’m excited to be a part of the team again.”

Dan Straily (3-3) pitched effectively while appealing a five-game suspension for intentionally throwing a pitch at the San Francisco Giants’ Buster Posey on June 19. Straily allowed three runs in 6 1/3 innings for the Marlins.

”Frustrating start to the game,” Straily said. ”I was trying to get back where I was as a pitcher, where I needed to be.”

Justin Bour hit his 13th home run for Miami, which won its third straight.

”As an offense we know we’re not a club that’s going to be a quick strike, throw five or six (runs),” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. ”We’re kind of one here, two there type of offense and that’s the approach we’ve been taking.”

Jake Lamb began the scoring with a home run in the first inning for the Diamondbacks, who saw their four-game winning streak end.

Bour responded with a solo shot in the bottom half.

Jeff Mathis’s base hit and Miller’s sacrifice fly gave Arizona a 3-1 lead.

The Marlins cut the deficit to 3-2 on a single by Starlin Castro.

Miami scored three runs in the pivotal fourth to take a 5-3 lead on a base hit by Derek Dietrich and a two-run double by Anderson.

The Marlins broke the game open in the eighth with four runs sparked by Maybin’s two-run single.

Chris Owings’s RBI double and Mathis’s sacrifice fly in the ninth cut the final deficit to 9-5.

GOLDSCHMIDT EXTENDS ROAD STREAK

Arizona’s Paul Goldschmidt singled in the third inning to extend his road hitting streak to 13 games, which includes seven home runs and 17 RBIs during that span.

MARLINS ARE COMING BACK

Miami has won four of its last five home games with all four being comeback wins.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Diamondbacks: RHP Clay Buchholz (left oblique) was placed on the 10-day disabled list. ”He said he could take the ball and would take the ball, that gives me the feeling that he’s feeling good enough, but not perfect,” Lovullo said. . LHP Robbie Ray (oblique) will make his return to the rotation for Wednesday’s game. . OF A.J. Pollock (thumb) has been cleared with baseball activities. . OF Steven Souza (pectoral) threw in the outfield and has been cleared to be a designated hitter in rehab assignments. . RHP Randall Delgado (shoulder) will have another rehab assignment on Wednesday, but still has ”several” more appearances before returning to the big leagues.

Marlins: C J.T. Realmuto (right wrist) did not play after taking a foul ball off his wrist in Sunday’s game. ”That last at-bat, he took a swing, and you could tell something was bothering him,” Mattingly said. ”We think he’s just a day. Give him a day and see how he feels. He was pretty sore today.” . LHP Caleb Smith (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day disabled list and MRI results revealed he has a Grade 3 lat strain. . RHP Jose Urena (shoulder) starting a throwing program and Mattingly believes he will be able to return soon after he is eligible on July 1.

UP NEXT

Diamondbacks: RHP Zack Godley (8-5, 4.64 ERA) will start the second game of the series on Tuesday. Godley is 3-0 with a 2.95 ERA in three starts.

Marlins: RHP Elieser Hernandez (0-4, 5.12) will make his second start against the Diamondbacks after giving up five runs in three innings on June 1.

NEW YORK — Comeback wins and one-run victories are defining the Seattle Mariners‘ climb to the top of the American League West.

Down to the wire and tight ballgames are bringing out a team Seattle fans have not seen in some time.

Now the Mariners get a chance to see how they stack up with the best team in baseball Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series with the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

The Mariners head to New York with a major-league-best 23 one-run wins and 21 comeback victories. Since May 18, they are 14-3 in one-game games and are 20 games over. 500 at 46-26 Michael Dickson Color Rush Jersey , their third-best record through 72 games behind the 2003 and 2001 editions.

Despite striking out 11 times in Sunday’s 9-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox, the Mariners are 13-4 in their last 17 games, 32-15 in their last 55 and their 28 wins since May 8 are the most in baseball.

“We’ll see them again next week in Boston and I think the guys are looking forward to it. I know they are,” Seattle manager Scott Servais said. “This stretch in our schedule, everybody looked at it early on and, ‘Oh, it’s going to be tough. You guys haven’t played anybody.’ But we’re just fine. You have to play the schedule. We don’t make it, we just play it. And we’re looking forward to the trip out East.”

Despite Seattle’s first loss by more than three runs since May 29, there were plenty of memorable moments during the seven-game homestand that also coincided with the Houston Astros winning 11 straight.

There was Mitch Haniger’s walk-off homer to complete the sweep of the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, the four-run comeback Friday and the 1-0 win highlighted by Wade LeBlanc’s performance Saturday night.

“We get down 3-1 and we are kind of looking around there, and in years past it kind of would have been a different feeling in the dugout there,” Seattle third baseman Kyle Seager told reporters. “There’s really not a lot of panic with this team. It’s just a different team.”

The Yankees are coming off a brief trip to Washington for a makeup of a suspended game followed the makeup of a rainout. They dropped the resumption of the suspended game 5-3 when Chad Green allowed a two-run homer to Juan Soto in the sixth and posted a 4-2 victory in the makeup game as Giancarlo Stanton had four hits.

Stanton’s third four-hit night occurred after he was 2-for-13 in the four-game series at Yankee Stadium. Stanton is hitting .212 (29-for-137) with seven homers and 19 RBIs at home this season.

Overall, the Yankees (47-22) are 14-4 in their last 18 games since May 22.

New York played without left fielder Brett Gardner the last two games because of knee pain. He is day to day, but the Yankees called up Clint Frazier on Monday.

“We’ve had timely hits, big hits, guys step up,” Stanton said Saturday. “We haven’t all clicked at the same time. Once that happens and we’re on all cylinders, there’s more room to get better.”

Seattle owns a team ERA of 3.86 and left-hander Marco Gonzales, who starts the opener, has been its hottest pitcher. He is 4-0 with a 1.41 ERA in his last six starts. During those outings, hitters are batting .204 against him.

Gonzales last pitched in Wednesday’s 8-6 win over the Angels when he allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings. It was only the second time in his last 10 starts Gonzales did not complete six innings.

Gonzales is making his 29th career start and first against the Yankees.

Domingo German will make his eighth start and is hoping to get the Mariners to swing and miss as much as the Tampa Bay Rays did last Thursday in his first career win. In a 4-3 victory, he became the sixth pitcher to get at least 26 swings and misses this season while allowing three runs and five hits in six innings.

“He’s matured every start,” Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres said of German. “Every day is better and better. He does the job. I think that’s what’s most important.”

German is 1-3 with a 5.77 ERA in seven career starts and is making his first appearance against the Mariners.

“It’s been a long battle for me,” German said through an interpreter before getting the ball from the game presented to him by pitching coach Larry Rothchild. “To be able to win my first game in the big leagues, it means a lot. Hopefully, I can relax a little more after getting the first one and keep battling.”

Marco Gonzales was looking for some retribution against the Kansas City Royals.

Gonzales (8-5) pitched a six-hitter for his first career complete game in the Seattle Mariners‘ 4-1 victory on Friday. The left-hander struck out seven and didn’t issue a walk while throwing just 96 pitches.

”My last outing against these guys didn’t go great – my second start of the year Authentic Will Butcher Jersey , I think – so I was looking for some payback, too. So I was a little more amped than usual,” Gonzales said.

Mitch Haniger and Mike Zunino homered for Seattle.

Gonzales had been chased after just 2 1/3 innings of what became a 10-0 loss on April 9, but Friday’s start was much different. Gonzalez, who’d never taken a game into the eighth inning until going 7 1/3 innings against Tampa Bay earlier this month, didn’t need more than 13 pitches to finish any inning against the Royals.

”He has a lot of confidence right now because everything that’s happened to him this year, he’s earned,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said.

Whit Merrifield singled to lead off the game and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Rosell Herrera. Gonzales picked Merrifield off second base to erase the baserunner and would retire nine straight batters before running into a spot of trouble in the fourth.

Herrera doubled off the glove of left fielder Denard Span with one out. An infield single from Mike Moustakas put runners on the corners, but Gonzales induced an inning-ending double play from Salvador Perez to keep the Royals off the board.

”The way that we’ve been playing and the fun that we’ve been having, I can’t wait for my fifth day to come,” Gonzales said. ”To be able to go out there and contribute in a positive way and have these guys rally behind you is pretty incredible.”

Royals starter Ian Kennedy (1-8) retired the first 10 batters he faced before running into trouble in the fourth. Jean Segura reached on an infield single to give Seattle its first baserunner of the game. Haniger followed with a two-run blast over the center-field wall to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead.

After fouling off three straight pitches with a 2-2 count, Zunino blasted a solo home run two rows from the top of the upper deck in left field to extend the Mariners’ lead to 3-0 in the fifth.

Kennedy left after five innings due to tightness in his left side that surfaced on the last pitch to Zunino.

”I felt it grab,” Kennedy said. ”And then the rest of the inning it stayed tight. The last couple pitches I was compensating for it, so I knew … the right thing to do is to say something.”

Segura added a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning off Brandon Maurer to give Seattle a 4-0 advantage.

Adalberto Mondesi doubled to open the ninth and Moustakas delivered a two-out single to center field to drive home the only run of the game for the Royals.

BONIFACIO RETURNS

Outfielder Jorge Bonifacio was recalled and back in the lineup for the Royals on Friday after completing an 80-game suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug. Bonifacio was suspended in March after testing positive for Boldenone, which is an anabolic androgenic steroid. Bonifacio started the game in left field and went 0 for 3 with a strikeout. He hit .255 with 17 home runs and 40 RBIs in 113 games as a rookie in 2017. OF Ryan Goins was designated for assignment on Thursday to clear a roster spot. ”It was a tough time down there in Arizona. But I learned from it. It’s never going to happen again,” Bonifacio said.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Royals: C Perez was back in the lineup after exiting Wednesday’s game in Milwaukee in the ninth inning after taking a foul ball off his right leg.

Mariners: 3B Kyle Seager was back in the lineup after making only a pinch-hit appearance in Baltimore on Sunday. Seager has an ”avulsion fracture” in his big toe and was given the day off in the field to rest. It’s not expected to require a disabled list stint and Seager is planning to play through the injury.

UP NEXT

Royals: RHP Jason Hammel (2-9) will make his 17th start of the season on Saturday. Hammel has lost four straight starts and has allowed at least three earned runs in three of the four outings.

Mariners: RHP Felix Hernandez (7-6) will take the hill for the 18th time this season as he looks to continue a run of strong starts. After a rough first two months of the season, Hernandez has allowed just one earned run in three of his five starts in June.

With the bases loaded and the game tied in the 10th inning Authentic Taylor Hall Jersey , Brad Miller plotted his approach as he came to the plate.

”You just look like you’re going to swing and don’t swing,” Miller said.

Miller drew a bases-loaded walk with one out and the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers rallied past the Minnesota Twins, 6-5 on Monday night.

Nate Orf, playing in his first major league game, was hit by a pitch from Zack Littell (0-2) leading off the 10th. Manny Pina followed with a single and Keon Broxton walked.

Pinch-hitter Hernan Perez, hitting against five infielders, hit a grounder to the left side that shortstop Jorge Polanco fielded and fired to the plate to force Orf before Miller got his chance against Littell.

”It’s tough right now,” Littell said, trying to explain his lack of command in the 10th.

Corey Knebel (2-0) pitched a scoreless 10th with a pair of strikeouts for the Brewers, who trailed 5-1 after Robbie Grossman blasted his first career grand slam with two outs in the fifth off Milwaukee starter Brent Suter.

Milwaukee has allowed grand slams in three consecutive games.

Four Brewers relievers combined on five shutout innings.

”Corey had a dynamite inning,” Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said. ”It was an outing for the bullpen. They kept us alive in that game.”

The Brewers rallied against Twins closer Fernando Rodney in the ninth to tie it. After retiring pinch-hitter Eric Sogard, Rodney gave up three consecutive singles to load the bases for Travis Shaw, who tied it with a sacrifice fly. Rodney blew his fifth save opportunity this season.

The Twins tied it at 1 in the third on a one-out RBI groundout by Brian Dozier, one pitch after Dozier appeared to have struck out swinging. Plate umpire Doug Eddings ruled that Dozier had fouled off the pitch, a call argued by Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell.

Suter gave up five runs and nine hits in five innings.

Pina led off the Brewers’ fifth with a homer off Kyle Gibson to cut the Twins’ lead to three. Milwaukee added another run on Miller’s bloop single and pulled to 5-4 when Twins third baseman Willians Astudillo failed to cleanly field Ryan Braun’s grounder near the bag.

Gibson gave up eight hits and three earned runs over five innings.

ORF’S LONG JOURNEY

The undrafted Orf, 28, started at second base. He has been one of the top-producing players in the Brewers’ farm system for many years and fans have long been clamoring for him to be called up Authentic Nico Hischier Jersey , even launching a (hash)FreeNateOrf campaign on Twitter.

”He is one of the more respected and revered players in our organization because of the way he treats people and because of the way he goes about his business,” Brewers general manager David Stearns said.

Orf, whose parents traveled from St. Louis for the game, narrowly missed hitting a grand slam in the fifth but Max Kepler hauled in the deep drive at the center-field wall.

”After I hit it, I was like this is it. This is the coolest thing I’ve ever done,” Orf said. ”Then he caught it.”

HITTING HURLERS

Gibson, who had singles in his first two at-bats, entered the game with just a pair of career hits in 16 at-bats. His single leading off the third was his first hit since June 2015.

”I’d rather go 0 for 5 and go eight innings,” Gibson said.

Suter singled in his only at-bat and Milwaukee reliever Taylor Williams got his first career hit with a sixth-inning single.

TRAINER’S ROOM:

Twins: Reinstated SS Jorge Polanco following an 80-game suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug. To make room for Polanco, OF Ryan LaMarre was designated for release or assignment. … Recalled RHP Zack Littell from Triple-A Rochester and sent LHP Adalberto Mejia to Rochester.

Brewers: OF Christian Yelich sat out for the fourth consecutive time since leaving Thursday’s game with lower back tightness. ..RHP Aaron Wilkerson was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs when Orf was recalled. …Transferred INF/OF Nick Franklin, who has been out since May with a quadriceps injury, to the 60-day disabled list.

UP NEXT

Twins: Jake Odorizzi (3-5, 4.62 ERA) allowed one run and five hits with 10 strikeouts in a May 20 start against the Brewers but didn’t factor into the decision.

Brewers: Junior Guerra (4-5, 3.05) surrendered one run and four hits in 4 1/3 innings and received no decision in a 3-1 loss to the Twins in Minneapolis on May 20.

Joey Votto hit a grand slam and celebrated with a flap Authentic Will Hernandez Jersey , honoring the bird that prolonged his at-bat.

Votto ended a long homer drought with his third career grand slam Tuesday night, powering the Cincinnati Reds to a 9-5 victory that ended the Detroit Tigers‘ longest winning streak in two years.

Votto came to bat with the bases loaded in the third inning of a scoreless game. A black bird wandered between the plate and the pitcher’s mound, prompting Votto to call time so he could try to shoo it away. The bird stayed in the middle of the infield.

”He was in the line of vision and I was going to try to swat it away,” Votto said. ”I was thinking, `Make sure to hit the ball in the air’ and `Don’t hit it on the ground up the middle.’ I was taking care of the bird.”

Votto’s high fly ball to right field off Matthew Boyd (4-5) had just enough to avoid the outstretched glove of Nicholas Castellanos, who reached over the wall and barely missed it. Votto flapped his arms in tribute to the bird when he crossed the plate on his first homer since May 13 Authentic Mark Andrews Jersey , ending a 30-game drought.

Votto’s last homer at Great American Ball Park was May 6. He has seven homers after hitting 36 last season, one shy of his career high.

”I would like to think it’s all part of the season,” Votto said. ”I felt good. I have felt good. I’ve been swinging the bat well.”

Sal Romano (4-7) had a second straight solid outing, limiting the Tigers to four singles over seven shutout innings. Billy Hamilton also homered as the Reds pulled away to a 9-0 lead.

The Tigers had won five straight and moved within a game of .500. They haven’t been to the break-even mark since they were a season-best 4-4 on April 8. They’ve wasted five chances to get back.

Romano was coming off perhaps his best performance in the majors. He went a career-high eight innings and gave up one run during a 5-1 win at Kansas City on Tuesday.

Trailing 9-0, Detroit finally broke through in the ninth when Wandy Peralta walked home a run and Leonys Martin followed with a double.

Boyd walked three batters in four innings – all of them scored – and gave up a season-high five runs. He was most upset with the two walks that set up the first grand slam he’s allowed in his career.

”Walks will kill you,” Boyd said. ”Things like that (grand slam) are going to happen in this ballpark Authentic Robert Griffin III Jersey , especially when the wind is blowing out.”

INTERLEAGUE

The Reds are 12-11 against the Tigers all-time. This season, the Tigers are 1-6 in interleague play. The Reds are 5-1.

BIRD IS THE WORD

The bird that wandered onto the field during Votto’s at-bat didn’t go away. It made a mound visit and later explored other parts of the field. Fans cheered when it was shown on the video board.

INTERESTING DESIGN

The outfield grass showed the effects of a concert at Great American Ball Park on Saturday, when high heat and the field covering left yellow patterns in the stressed grass.

STATS

Martin reached in all five plate appearances, going 3 for 3 with two walks. … Cincinnati’s Tucker Barnhart also reached in all five plate appearances, going 3 for 3 with a walk. He also was hit by a pitch. … Eugenio Suarez singled to extend his hitting streak to nine games, the longest active streak on the Reds and one shy of his career high.

REDS MOVE

The Reds called up RH reliever Jackson Stephens and optioned RH reliever Austin Brice to Triple-A Louisville. Stephens was 0-0 with a 4.20 ERA in nine appearances for the Reds earlier this season.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Tigers: Reliever Drew VerHagen left the game in the seventh after getting hit in the face with a throw while covering first base. He broke his nose and had it reset. Manager Ron Gardenhire said the Tigers were working on bringing up another reliever.

Reds: RH Homer Bailey will be re-examined on Tuesday. He’s been sidelined since June 2 with a sore right knee.

UP NEXT

Tigers: Michael Fulmer (2-5) has gone seven innings and allowed one run in each of his last two starts. He’s never faced the Reds.

Reds: Tyler Mahle (5-6) is 2-0 with a 1.10 ERA in three starts in June Authentic Ian Thomas Jersey , allowing two runs in 16 1/3 innings. He’s never faced the Tigers.

The Tampa Bay Rays have activated slick-fielding shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria from the 10-day disabled list.

The 29-year-old Hechavarria had been sidelined since May 17 with a right hamstring strain. Hechavarria grabbed his leg after running out a single against the Angels.

Hechavarria was in Tampa Bay’s lineup Sunday against the New York Yankees. Prized prospect Willy Adames, who played nine games at shortstop while filling in for Hechavarria over two stints with the team, slid over to second.

Hechavarria went 2 for 10 with an RBI during a three-game rehab stint. To make room on the roster, infielder Christian Arroyo was placed on the 10-day DL with a left oblique strain following Tampa Bay’s 4-1 loss to the Yankees on Saturday.

ST. PETERSBURG http://www.cowboysauthorizedshops.com/authentic-dalton-schultz-jersey , Fla. — Tampa Bay’s continued experimentation with relievers as starters has had mixed results, but it helped the Rays beat the best team in baseball on Friday night, and they’ll hope for the same formula as the series continues Saturday at Tropicana Field.

“It’s a little backwards, a little different, but it is what it is,” Yankees‘ Brett Gardner said after Friday’s 2-1 win for the Rays.

On Saturday, the Rays will start reliever Wilmer Font (0-3, 7.56 ERA), who is already with his third team in 2018, but has found surprising success growing into the unusual role. In six June appearances, he has managed to last longer in each outing — 2/3 of an inning, then 1 1/3, then 2, then 2 1/3, then 3 1/3, and then 4 2/3 on Sunday against the same Yankees.

Font lasted one out shorter than the minimum needed for a win but held the Yankees to one run and four hits, striking out five. The same pitcher who had an 11.68 ERA in April and a 10.80 ERA in May now has a 2.51 ERA in June.

The Rays might not have a majority of fans in their own stadium, but they’re finding ways to win.

“They were pretty loud,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said of the Yankees fans on Friday night. “We’ve played the Yankees and Red Sox quite a bit, and they have a lot of fans who travel with them. I thought the loudest moment was when we got the final out Brett Favre Jersey , and that’s what we were concerned about. Our fans showed up and supported us.”

If the Rays want to win again Saturday, they’ll have to do so against another pitcher who has gotten steadily better as the season has progressed. Sonny Gray (5-4, 4.8) hasn’t faced the Rays yet this season, but he’s 3-4 in his career against Tampa Bay with a 4.26 ERA, including a 4.32 in four starts last year.

Gray had a 6.67 ERA in April, then a 5.16 ERA in May. For June, his ERA stands at 2.63. Gray has allowed only seven earned runs in 24 innings.

The Rays put together 10 hits on Friday, but got nothing from one of their best hitters.

Kevin Kiermaier went 0-for-4 to drop to 0-for-13 since his return from the disabled list. The Rays did get three hits from catcher Wilson Ramos, who has stepped into the American League lead in All-Star voting among catchers.

Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez, next in the All-Star voting, went 0-for-4 to drop his season average to .194. Ramos may get traded before this year’s deadline, but he’s making the most of his time with the Rays.

No one will confuse the Yankees (50-23) with the Rays (35-40), but another bullpen day Saturday could flummox a New York batting order that managed only five hits Friday. And when they did get hits, the Yankees couldn’t capitalize and went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

After the Rays dropped their first six games against the Yankees this season, they have won two straight as they try to again claw back to playing .500 baseball.

After rain washed out Thursday’s scheduled series opener, the Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox will play a day-night doubleheader on Friday at Guaranteed Rate Field to kick off a four-game series.

The A’s will go for their season-high fifth win in a row when they finally take the field on Chicago’s South Side.

Oakland (38-36) has won four straight games on four occasions this season, including its current stretch, but has yet to make it five. The A’s have outscored opponents 28-15 during this week’s streak, which includes two wins apiece against the Los Angeles Angels and San Diego Padres.

A’s hitters slugged five homers in a 12-4 rout of the Padres on Wednesday. The team already has four players with double-digit blasts including Khris Davis (20), Matt Olson (15) http://www.ramsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-john-franklin-myers-jersey , Jed Lowrie (11) and the injured Matt Chapman (10).

“We definitely have some power,” A’s manager Bob Melvin told the A’s official website. “That’s one of the strengths of the team.”

As Oakland is riding a hot streak, Chicago (24-49) is mired in a seven-game losing streak. A loss in the series opener would give the White Sox their worst skid of the season, which is saying something considering the club’s ugly record.

White Sox manager Rick Renteria’s club has been swept in its last two series, against the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians. In Wednesday’s series finale, Chicago managed only two hits in a 12-0 shutout loss to the Indians.

“It’s tough, but instead of getting frustrated, we have to keep working, use that feeling to work harder,” White Sox second baseman Yoan Moncada told the team’s official website. “There are still plenty of games to play, and we can improve. We can keep getting better, and if it is not this year, then next year. But definitely the games we have this year, we have a chance to improve.”

The White Sox will turn to right-hander James Shields (2-8, 4.63 ERA) in the first game of the twin bill. The 36-year-old has pitched at least six innings in 11 consecutive starts as part of a bounce-back season atop the club’s rotation.

In his career against Oakland, Shields is 6-7 with a 4.86 ERA in 19 games (18 starts). He came in as a reliever in the 14th inning of a game against Oakland in April this season, and gave up two hits, two walks and the game-winning run in two-thirds of an inning.

The A’s will start the doubleheader with left-hander Sean Manaea (6-6, 3.56 ERA), who grew up in Northwest Indiana Gordie Howe Jersey , not far from Chicago. The 26-year-old is off to a good start this season with 19 walks and 68 strikeouts in 93 2/3 innings.

Manaea has never faced the White Sox in his career.

In the nightcap, White Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito (4-7, 7.19 ERA) will look to improve in his 15th start of the season. The former first-round pick of the Washington Nationals (No. 16 overall in 2012) has terrific potential but has been unable to produce consistent results in his first full season in Chicago.

Poor command has plagued Giolito, who has 45 walks in 71 1/3 innings. He also has hit 10 batters, which is tied for most in the majors along with Cole Hamels of the Texas Rangers and Carlos Martinez of the St. Louis Cardinals.

This will mark the 23-year-old’s first career appearance against Oakland.

For the A’s, right-hander Chris Bassitt (0-2, 2.45 ERA) will make his third start of the season in the nightcap. The 29-year-old is seeking his first victory since Aug. 4, 2015, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Bassitt is quite familiar with the White Sox, who drafted him in the 16th round in 2011 and developed him in the minors. He went 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA in six appearances (five starts) as a rookie in Chicago in 2014.

Bassitt has faced the White Sox once in his career, giving up eight hits and four runs in 5 1/3 innings on April 5, 2016. He did not get a decision in Chicago’s 5-4 victory.

On Dec. 9, 2014, the White Sox shipped Bassitt, Marcus Semien, Josh Phegley and minor leaguer Rangel Ravelo to Oakland for Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa. The trade did not pan out as hoped for Chicago, which retained Samardzija for one underwhelming season before he signed as a free agent with the San Francisco Giants.

This is the first series of the season between the teams. Last year, Oakland won the season series 5-1.

Zac Taylor has been named the Los Angeles Rams’ quarterbacks coach.

The NFC West champion Rams swiftly promoted from within on Tuesday to replace Greg Olson Antti Niemi Jersey , who left to become Jon Gruden’s offense coordinator with the Oakland Raiders.

The 34-year-old Taylor spent last season as an assistant wide receivers coach on Sean McVay’s staff in Los Angeles. Taylor was the Miami Dolphins’ quarterbacks coach from 2013-15, doubling up in his final season as the offensive coordinator.

Taylor started 26 games in two seasons as Nebraska’s quarterback from 2005-06.

Taylor is the third position coach in three seasons for Jared Goff. McVay doesn’t anticipate the upheaval to cause a problem, since McVay and offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur are sticking around.

The Chicago Cubs got some key hits and effective pitching to get a big win.

Jason Heyward and Addison Russell homered, and Ian Happ had a tiebreaking RBI double in the seventh inning as the Cubs rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 on Saturday night.

Chicago starter Kyle Hendricks (5-6) gave up three runs and seven hits in six innings, snapping a career-high three game losing streak. Brandon Morrow got the last three outs for his 16th save in 17 chances.

”We had great at bats all night,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. ”Had opportunities. Kyle (Hendricks) settled in. He’s still off a little bit but that’s what he can do even when he’s off. Just give him a lot of credit.”

Chicago trailed 2-0 and then 3-2 before Kyle Schwarber’s RBI single in the fifth tied the score for the second time. Happ’s double off Sam Tuivailala (1-2) in the seventh gave the Cubs their first lead.

Happ has three hits, including a homer, with two RBI and two runs scored in the last two games against the Cardinals, who dropped their season-high fourth in a row.

Heyward’s 410-foot, two-run homer in the eighth landed in the right field bullpen. It was the first career dinger allowed by Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks.

”My hands have got to be free,” Heyward said. ”I’ve got to be able to use my hands and can’t try and hit (that 100 mph fastball) that with my body. If you try and do too much you’re not going to be able to make some good contact there.”

Heyward is hitting .383 (23 for 65) in his last 15 games Bobby Orr Jersey , raising his average from .238 to .269.

”What was that a 99, 100 mile an hour fastball? He got to it easily,” Maddon said. ”He’s the guy that’s really ascended among the group. He’s made all the difference by hitting second and providing some big hits in the latter part of the game. He’s really good as the game gets in progress.”

Russell’s leadoff home run in the fourth tied it at 2-2, snapping Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez’s 47 inning homerless streak.

”Looking for something in the zone early in the count,” Russell said. ”I was really sitting on a fastball but I just saw it well and I put it out.”

Martinez struggled for third time since returning from a lat strain, giving up three runs and seven hits. He walked six, at least one in each inning, and needed 98 pitches to get through five innings. He was able to wriggle out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth as the Cubs stranded nine runners against him.

”Better, but still not exactly where he wants to be, obviously the free passes,” Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. ”It just looked more like his stuff Jeff Petry Jersey Kids , good life, just looked consistent, had some close misses.”

Martinez helped himself with a two-out RBI single that broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth. Martinez’ liner fell just short of the outstretched glove of a diving Heyward, scoring Dexter Fowler.

Marcell Ozuna’s two-run homer gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the first. The blast extended Ozuna’s home run streak to three games and his RBI streak to a career-high seven games. He is the first Cardinal to drive in a run in seven straight since Matt Holliday in 2013.

”Winning is more important,” Ozuna said. ”If we’re winning and you help the team a little bit, it’s good. But if you’re losing and you’re hitting good, what is the reason for it?”

Willson Contreras got the Cubs on the scoreboard in the third on a sharp infield single that deflected off first baseman Matt Carpenter. Ben Zobrist scored from third on the play.

TRAINING ROOM

Cubs: RHP Yu Darvish (right triceps tendinitis) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Friday and is scheduled to throw another when the team returns home next week.

Cardinals: SS Paul DeJong (left hand fracture) underwent a CT scan and hit off a tee. He will accompany the team on its next road trip.

UP NEXT

Cubs: LHP Jose Quintana (6-4, 4.09 ERA) is 3-1 in five career starts against St. Louis.

Cardinals: RHP Jack Flaherty (3-2, 2.96 ERA) has won three of his last four decisions and is making his first career start against Chicago.

Running back Frank Gore came to Indianapolis with Super Bowl aspirations.

Three years later http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/authentic-anthony-averett-jersey , he’s leaving without a ring or an assurance he’ll ever play another football game.

General manager Chris Ballard announced Wednesday the Colts do not intend to re-sign the 34-year-old, soon-to-be free agent, who is ranked No. 5 in career rushing.

”Frank is at a point where he knows we need to get younger,” Ballard said during the first day of the NFL’s annual scouting combine in Indianapolis. ”And I wanted to give Frank a chance to finish his career where he wants to.”

Not much followed the script after Gore opted to reunite with college teammate Andre Johnson with the Colts.

After quarterback Andrew Luck reached three consecutive Pro Bowls and made three straight playoff appearances, taking Indy one step deeper each season, Gore and others thought the Colts were on the verge of a breakout.

Instead, Luck hurt his throwing shoulder three weeks into the 2015 season and everything has gone south.

He has missed 26 of 48 games over the past three seasons, each of which ended with Indy missing the postseason. General manager Ryan Grigson, who signed Gore, was fired following the 2016 season and coach Chuck Pagano was fired in December.

Now, with Luck apparently on the road back to Indy, Gore is on his way out.

Ballard said Luck is expected to return to team headquarters in early April to continue rehabbing.

Getting Luck back in town would be a welcome change for the Colts, who monitored Luck’s recovery for the nearly six weeks he spent in Europe and the eight weeks he has spent in California since the end of the season.

”Is it going to help having Andrew back in the building? Absolutely,” Ballard said. ”But I think it will be good for Andrew to be around the locker room and among his guys, and I think he’d tell you the same thing.”

He and just about everyone else, though, will miss Gore’s leadership and optimism.

Despite playing behind a struggling, ineffective offensive line each season in Indy http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-russell-bodine-jersey , he never complained. He simply kept working, talking positive and plugging ahead.

The results were impressive.

After falling 33 yards short of his ninth 1,000-yard season in 2015, he rebounded with 1,025 yards at age 33 in 2016 – making him the oldest 1,000-yard rusher since 35-year-old John Riggins in 1982. Then in December, the ageless Gore had a career-high 36 carries for 130 yards in an overtime loss in a Buffalo blizzard.

He even made passing some of the league’s best runners look routine.

Ballard said Gore actually broke his thumb during that Buffalo game and doctors told him they could repair it by inserting a pin. While Gore never hinted publicly he was hurt, it was a different story behind closed doors.

”Frank said `I’m a football player, I’m playing,”’ Ballard said.

Four days later, Gore was back on the field against Denver. Three weeks later, Gore played in his 48th and final game with the Colts – a 24-carry, 100-yard performance that left him just 76 yards short of passing Curtis Martin for No. 4.

The only other players ahead of Gore are Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton and Barry Sanders.

His nine 1,000-yard seasons are fifth behind Smith (11), Payton, Sanders and Martin (10), and he holds the league record with 12 consecutive seasons with 1 http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-phillip-gaines-jersey ,200 yards from scrimmage.

But he was always about more than numbers.

”He’s a legend in my mind,” new coach Frank Reich said. ”He set the standard for on what backs did in (pass) protection.”

And even though, he still wants a ring, he’s not willing to sacrifice his principles to get one.

”I know I still can play, and I know I want to help a team,” he said in late December. ”I don’t want to just be part of a team, I want to help a team, and I don’t want anyone to say I rode the bench to get a ring.”

Atlanta’s high-flying offense had its way with every defense it faced in 2016 on the way to the Super Bowl except Jim Schwartz’s unit.

The Philadelphia Eagles shut down the Falcons in a 24-15 victory in Week 10 last season, holding them to a season low in points, first downs (11) and yards (303).

They’ll try to do it again with a berth in the NFC championship game at stake.

When the Falcons (11-6) visit the Eagles (13-3) in a divisional playoff game on Saturday, Schwartz will turn to the blueprint he used last season. But he knows that doesn’t guarantee success again.

”They are a little bit different than last year,” Schwartz said. ”It’s a new season. Playoff games stand on their own.”

Julio Jones had 10 catches for 135 yards, but didn’t score a touchdown against the Eagles in that game. Matt Ryan completed only eight passes to other receivers for 132 yards, including a 76-yard TD to Taylor Gabriel.

Schwartz doesn’t care about allowing Jones to rack up fantasy points. Keeping him out of the end zone is more important.

”If Julio Jones has 350 yards receiving and we win the game, that’s what it took to win the game,” Schwartz said.

”If he has 10 yards receiving for the game-winning touchdown, then that wasn’t enough.

”So I think you have to look at it that way. How do you stop their offense, how do you minimize their scoring and not just concentrate on one player because they do have other players that are threats. It’s not just a one-man team.”

The Eagles blitzed Ryan more than usual and the 2016 NFL MVP had his worst game of the season. He was sacked twice http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-marshall-newhouse-jersey , threw one interception, completed only 55 percent of his passes and had a 78.7 passer rating.

Schwartz has more talent on his defense now, including more depth on the defensive line and a revamped secondary.

The Eagles often generate a strong rush without relying on the blitz and they have cornerbacks who can handle receivers one-on-one if Schwartz wants to be aggressive.

”They are a very good offensive protection team as far as picking up blitzes,” Schwartz said.

”Blitz is not a whole lot different than pass rush. You can’t expect to have guys free. If you’re expecting to get guys free, you’re in the wrong business because the only way you can really get a guy free is to bring more than they can block and there’s some risk inherent to that.

”But blitz is really all about guys winning one-on-ones, and when you do that, then your blitz game is going to be effective and I’m not just talking about one-on-ones in pass rush, but I’m talking about one-on-ones in coverage, too. Both of those go hand in hand.”

Under first-year offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, who replaced Kyle Shanahan after he left to coach San Francisco, the Falcons had a big drop-off in production. They went from No. 1 in scoring at 33.8 points per game to 15th at 22.1. They fell from second in yards to eighth.

But they still have Ryan, Jones, Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman, Mohamed Sanu and Austin Hooper.

”They look sharp and they’re playing at a high level,” defensive end Chris Long said. ”We’ll have to bring our `A’ game.”

AP NFL website:

Derrick Henry isn’t a big or brash talker. That’s what made the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner calling his performance ”kind of soft” in Tennessee’s regular-season finale stand out.

The massive running back sure made up for that with an NFL postseason debut for the record books.

Getting Henry to acknowledge any change in his own confidence or being pleased after a big game is as tough as tackling him in the open field.

”I’m just trying to play better every week Julius Peppers Jersey ,” Henry said . ”I’m going to get another chance to play – it’s a great team in a good environment – so just making sure I’m doing all the right things this week.”

Henry rebounded from a game in which he ran for 51 yards by setting a franchise playoff record with 191 yards from scrimmage, helping the Titans rally for a 22-21 victory over Kansas City in the wild-card round. He topped the previous mark set by Billy Cannon in January 1961 with the best performance by a running back in the playoffs in at least a decade.

Now it’s up to Bill Belichick and the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots (13-3) to slow down Henry on Saturday night in their AFC divisional game. Belichick says everyone on defense has to do his job.

”Henry has got a ton of skill, and he’s got power, good vision,” Belichick said. ”He can certainly run inside and break tackles, he’s a tough runner, he can get tough runs. But, he’s very athletic in the open field. He’s fast, he can cut back, he can get to space. He’s broken off a lot of long runs, running plays, screens.”

Against Jacksonville on Dec. 31, Henry made up for a rough day running by taking a screen 66 yards for a touchdown . But his first three carries went backward, including a 12-yard loss that came dangerously close to a safety.

”He saw some of the things that he missed by trying to bounce some things,” Titans coach Mike Mularkey said. ”He’s had a lot of success bouncing some runs, but at some point you’ve got to hit some of these holes that are there, and they’re not big all the time. I think he saw that, and obviously he’s a quick, fast learner.”

The second-year running back out of Alabama bounced back with a career-high 156 yards, just shy of Eddie George’s franchise-record 162 in a postseason game.

Henry also had 85 yards in the fourth quarter Mike Adams Jersey , including a 35-yard touchdown , for the NFL’s third-best rushing performance in the fourth quarter of a playoff game since the 1991 season. Only LeGarrette Blount (114 yards for the Patriots vs. the Colts on Jan. 11, 2014) and Derek Loville (97 yards for the Broncos against the Jaguars on Dec. 27, 1997) have been better in that span.

Finishing is what the 6-foot-3, 247-pound Henry does best. Only the Chiefs’ Kareem Hunt had more yards rushing (474) in the NFL in the fourth quarter this season than Henry (390), who averaged a league-best 6.09 yards per carry over the final 15 minutes.

Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia says Henry is powerful with a dangerous stiff-arm.

”If it’s a one-on-one tackling situation, it’s extremely difficult to get him down in that instance,” Patricia said.

Henry teamed with quarterback Marcus Mariota to pile up a franchise-record 202 yards rushing for a postseason game. The Patriots ranked 31st, allowing 4.7 yards per rushing play.

DeMarco Murray already has been declared out for a third straight game for Tennessee, leaving the backfield to Henry.

”It’s my job trying to help this team win games,” Henry said. ”It’s always fun when you’re playing football.”

NOTES: LG Quinton Spain (back) practiced fully after missing the last two days. CB Logan Ryan (ankle) practiced fully after being limited Wednesday.

Mike Clevinger has become a vital member of the Cleveland Indians‘ rotation.

Clevinger struck out 10 and allowed one run in 7 2/3 innings, and Cleveland beat the Chicago White Sox 6-3 on Tuesday night.

Clevinger (6-2) beat Chicago for the third time this season and was in command after giving up a first-inning run. He retired 13 straight between the second and sixth while allowing five hits.

The right-hander, in his first full season as a starter, has earned the trust of manager Terry Francona.

”He’s doing everything you would ever ask of any guy,” Francona said. ”He works hard. He’s prepared. He competes like crazy. He’s got three good pitches that seem to be getting better.”

Clevinger is pleased to know Francona has confidence in him.

”Obviously, it took a process to get there with him, but I’m enjoying the benefits of getting that trust now,” Clevinger said.

Clevinger struck out a career-high 11 against the White Sox last week. This time, he was pulled after two walks in the eighth. He has held Chicago to three earned runs in 21 1/3 innings over three starts.

”His fastball had a lot of life and his changeup was working pretty well,” White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. ”Really Matt Kalil Jersey , he’s got a pretty good repertoire.”

Francisco Lindor’s two-run single was the key hit in the second when Cleveland scored four times. Yonder Alonso, Michael Brantley and Edwin Encarnacion also drove in runs for the Indians.

Yoan Moncada had a two-run double with two outs in the ninth off Zach McAllister. Second baseman Erik Gonzalez booted Yolmer Sanchez’s ground ball putting two runners on. Cody Allen retired Jose Abreu on fly ball for his 15th save in 16 chances.

Cleveland improved to 16-4 in its past 20 home games against Chicago.

Carlos Rodon (0-2) allowed four runs in 6 1/3 innings. The left-hander made his third start of the season after having shoulder surgery in August.

The White Sox lost their sixth straight and dropped a season-high 24 games under .500. Chicago is 11-23 against the AL Central.

Abreu’s single put Chicago ahead three batters into the game, but the lead lasted one inning. Alonso tied the game with an RBI single in the second, and Cleveland went ahead on Rodon’s wild pitch.

Lindor singled into right-center with runners on second and third for a 4-1 lead. Brantley and Encarnacion drove in runs in the seventh.

Rodon pitched into the seventh inning for the first time this season, throwing 98 pitches.

”I feel healthy and my arm feels good, but I’ve got to be better,” he said. ”When you lose, you’re never satisfied. It’s good that I went into the seventh, but I really hurt myself in the second.”

Abreu had a home run overturned in the third. His drive down the left field line was called fair by third base umpire Lance Barksdale. The ruling was reversed after a review that lasted 44 seconds. Abreu then struck out.

Moncada led off the first with a double and scored when Abreu hit a sharp ground ball through the right side.

Brandon Guyer and Rajai Davis stole bases for the Indians, who have stolen 23 bases without being caught since May 23.

HIGH NUMBER

RHP George Kontos became the 17th pitcher to be in Cleveland’s bullpen this season when he had his contract purchased from Triple-A Columbus. Kontos, 33, was released by Pittsburgh last month. RHP Evan Marshall (sore elbow) is on the 10-day disabled list. He was removed in the eighth inning Monday with the injury.

CLEAN IT UP

The White Sox committed three errors Monday and continued to struggle in the field Tuesday. Catcher Omar Narvaez threw the ball into center field when Guyer stole second base in the third. Rodon and Bruce Rondon threw wild pitches.

The Indians were also sloppy. Jason Kipnis dropped a soft underhanded flip from Lindor that would have forced Abreu at second base in the first. Clevinger threw wildly trying to pick Charlie Tilson off first the following inning. Gonzalez’s error forced Allen into the game in an inning that began with a 6-1 lead.

TRAINER’S ROOM

White Sox: OF Leury Garcia (sprained left knee), who has been on the disabled list since May 24, has three hits and three runs in the first two games of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.

UP NEXT

Indians RHP Corey Kluber (10-3, 2.24 ERA), coming off a rare loss, starts the series finale. He allowed four runs in five innings – his shortest outing of the season – against the Twins on Friday. RHP Reynaldo Lopez (2-4, 3.26 ERA) starts for the White Sox.

The Texas Rangers took full advantage after a changed call. A misplayed flyball only made things worse for the San Diego Padres.

Robinson Chirinos drove in the first of five runs Texas scored in a decisive sixth inning on the next pitch after it appeared he had struck out John Ross Jersey , and right fielder Hunter Renfroe was charged with an error on the next play as the Rangers rallied for a 7-4 win Monday night.

There were two runners and Chirinos had two strikes when he had a foul tip. Home plate umpire Tony Randazzo initially indicated he was out, and it looked like catcher Austin Hedges had secured the ball in the mitt that kicked up dirt when he reached down.

But was changed to a foul ball after the umpires got together to discuss the play.

”From my vantage point, our dugout, we saw dirt fly, which seem to indicate that the ball hit the ground,” said Rangers manager Jeff Banister, who said the umps got together on their own.

Padres manager Andy Green obviously had a much different view.

”Yeah, it’s frustrating. They missed it. I think it’s obvious when you see the film that they missed it,” Green said. ”It’s a frustrating overturn on an obvious call. We had chances, though. We had some plays we could have made that we didn’t make. It’s one of those innings that flat out got away from us.”

After Chirinos’ got Texas within 4-2, Ronald Guzman then hit the deep flyball misplayed by Renfroe, who drifted to the ball on a windy night into the right-center cutout. Guzman wound up at second on the error and was credited with a sac fly. Delino DeShields and Choo followed with consecutive RBI singles, and Elvis Andrus added a sac fly.

”You’ve got to be mentally tough enough to bounce back from it and make a better pitch than what I made,” said Craig Stammen (4-1).

Choo extended his career-best on-base streak to 38 games with three hits, including that tiebreaking RBI single in the sixth. Chirinos had an RBI double in the seventh.

San Diego (35-46) reached the midpoint of its season by losing for the eighth time in nine games. The Rangers (35-45) Joe Mixon Jersey , who play their 81st game Tuesday night, have won eight of nine.

Tony Barnette (2-0) retired all three batters he faced after Manuel Margo and Jose Pirela homered off Rangers starter Cole Hamels. Keone Kela worked the nine for his 19th save, the most in the majors without a blown chance and matching the longest season-opening span in team history.

”Being able to see what the team was able to do when you put them a little behind, they were able to battle,” Hamels said. ”When you’re winning, everybody’s happy, and you can move on to the next day.”

GOING DEEP

Margo’s three-run homer in the fifth was his second homer in as many days, and his third overall. His only other homer this season came April 5. … Pirela went deep to start the sixth for a 4-1 lead and chase Hamels.

BEING CAUTIOUS

San Diego starter Joey Lucchesi allowed only one hit over four scoreless innings. But the lefty was limited to 70 pitches in only his second start after being out more than a month because of a right hip strain.

”You’re managing a guy’s career as much as you are a baseball game,” Green said. ”To me, wasn’t quite stretched out enough to send him back out there for the fifth inning.”

SHORT HOPS

The Padres had allowed five runs or fewer in their 14 previous road games, a club record. … It was the 10th time in Hamels’ 16 starts this season that Texas scored no more than one run while the lefty was on the mound.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Padres: Green said an MRI on the pitching elbow of RHP Jordan Lyles showed that he does just have inflammation. Lyles was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday after feeling discomfort while warming up. Lyles will rejoin the team in Texas, but won’t start throwing again before the weekend.

Rangers: Guzman left in the sixth and went into MLB concussion protocol. His head struck the knee of third baseman Christian Villanueva when diving back on an attempted pickoff by Hedges. ”It was very evident when we got out there, just his words, kind of the symptoms that he gave us,” Banister said. … RF Nomar Mazar left with tightness in his left hamstring after an infield single in the eighth. Banister described that as ”pretty precautionary.”

UP NEXT

Padres right-hander Tyson Ross (5-5) Jordan Willis Jersey , who received no run support in his last two starts, faces the team he pitched for last year. Ross was 3-3 with a 7.71 ERA in 12 games in his only season with the Rangers after previously being with San Diego from 2013-16.

Vince Velasquez took a no-hitter two outs into the seventh inning, Rhys Hoskins and Nick Williams hit solo homers and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Colorado Rockies 9-3 on Thursday.

Trevor Story lined Velasquez’s 105th pitch to left for an RBI double, ending Velasquez’s bid for the fourth no-hitter in the majors this season. Velasquez (5-7) retired 20 of the first 21 batters and got a standing ovation as he walked off the mound after the hit.

The Phillies won a series for the first time since taking two of three from Atlanta on May 21-23. They’re 7-12 since.

GIANTS 6, MARLINS 3, 16 INNINGS

MIAMI (AP) – San Francisco third baseman Evan Longoria broke his left hand when he was hit by a pitch in the Giants‘ victory over Miami.

Longoria was struck by Dan Straily. There is no timetable for Longoria’s return and he will decide in the next few days if he will need surgery. He is hitting .246 with 10 home runs and 34 RBIs.

Pablo Sandoval hit a tiebreaking, two-run single in the 16th inning. Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run homer to continue his torrid month and Mac Williamson also homered for the Giants, who salvaged the final game of a four-game series and beat the Marlins for only the second time in the last 10 meetings.

Giants starter Dereck Rodriguez pitched 6 2-3 innings, allowing two runs. Ty Blach (4-5) also pitched 6 2-3 innings for the Giants without allowing a run. Elieser Hernandez (0-4) took the loss.

It was the longest game of the season for the Giants and the second-longest for the Marlins, who went 17 innings in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs on March 30. Colorado has lost 10 of 13.

YANKEES 4, RAYS 3

NEW YORK (AP) – Gleyber Torres hit another three-run homer and Domingo German struck out a career-high 10 for his first major league win and New York edged Tampa Bay in the opener of a four-game series.

Aaron Hicks also homered off Blake Snell (8-4) as New York beat the blossoming left-hander for the second time this season and ended his four-game winning streak.

German (1-4) gave up a home run to Matt Duffy on the first pitch of the game but quickly recovered to strike out the next three batters. Making his seventh start in place of injured Jordan Montgomery, the rookie right-hander allowed three runs, five hits and two walks in his 19th career appearance.

Chad Green and Dellin Betances set up Aroldis Chapman for his 19th save in 20 attempts.

RED SOX 2, MARINERS 1

SEATTLE (AP) – Xander Bogaerts hit a tiebreaking home run in the sixth inning and Boston won its fourth straight.

David Price (8-4) pitched seven innings of four-hit ball to earn his sixth victory over his past seven appearances. He gave up a run and struck out seven. Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth to lock down his 22nd save, pitching around two walks to open the inning by striking out Kyle Seager and getting Ryon Healy to ground into a double play..

The Red Sox got their major-league leading 48th win of the season and snapped Seattle’s four-game winning streak.

Bogaerts hit Felix Hernandez’s 2-2 fastball just over the fence in left-center field for a two-out solo shot to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.

TIGERS 3 Carl Lawson Jersey , TWINS 1

DETROIT (AP) – JaCoby Jones‘ two-run homer capped a three-run seventh inning as Detroit rallied past Minnesota.

Jones was hitting .135 in his last 10 games, and had struck out in his first two at-bats before hitting Lance Lynn’s 3-1 fastball for his fifth home run..

Michael Fulmer (3-5) improved to 5-0 in five career starts against the Twins. He pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in ending a three-start winless streak. Joe Jimenez pitched the eighth and Shane Greene threw the ninth for his 17th save.

Lynn (4-5) took a shutout into the seventh but ended up allowing three runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings.

INDIANS 5, WHITE SOX 2

CHICAGO (AP) – Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez homered, Mike Clevinger struck out 11 in seven innings and Cleveland topped Chicago.

Lindor led off the game against Carlos Rodon with his 15th home run. He also singled and scored in the seventh when Ramirez broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run drive to right-center against Chris Volstad (1-4) for his 20th homer.

Clevinger (5-2) gave up two runs and five hits.

Cody Allen worked the ninth for his 13th save in 14 chances as the AL Central leaders salvaged a four-game split.

ASTROS 7, ATHLETICS 3

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Justin Verlander pitched five-hit ball over seven innings and Houston beat Oakland for its eighth straight win.

The winning streak is the Astros‘ longest since they won 11 straight May 25-June 5 last season on the way to their first World Series championship.

Khris Davis and Matt Olson homered for the A’s. Both home runs came off Verlander (9-2), who struck out seven, allowed three runs and didn’t walk a batter while earning his fifth consecutive win.

Frankie Montas (3-1) gave up five earned runs and 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings.

BRAVES 4, PADRES 2

ATLANTA (AP) – Anibal Sanchez allowed only four hits in seven scoreless innings, Ender Inciarte homered and scored two runs and Atlanta beat San Diego.

Ozzie Albies added a run-scoring double for the NL East-leading Braves.

Sanchez (3-0) did not walk a batter as he earned his first win in six career starts against San Diego. Sanchez outpitched Tyson Ross (5-4), who allowed only three hits and three runs in six-plus innings.

Arodys Vizcaino pitched the ninth for his 13th save in 15 chances.

DIAMONDBACKS 6, METS 3

PHOE

Once pitcher Mike Lorenzen homered Terrell Suggs Jersey , the Cincinnati Reds got rolling again.

Lorenzen connected for a pinch-hit shot to begin Cincinnati’s comeback, Jesse Winker added a pinch-hit, three-run homer in a big seventh, and the Reds beat the Chicago Cubs 8-6 Sunday for their seventh straight win.

Lorenzen’s homer was the third of his career and second in two games by a Reds pitcher. Anthony DeSclafani hit a grand slam on Saturday, the first by a Reds pitcher since 1959.

”In a game like today we feel like we’re not meant to lose,” Lorenzen said.

The last-place Reds completed a four-game sweep of the Cubs for the first time since 1983 at Riverfront Stadium. Their winning streak is their longest since a 10-game surge in July 2012.

”We know what we can do,” Winker said. ”It is cool coming to the field and expecting to win. We’re in June right now. We are taking care of June. To win a game, it takes a group effort. There’s plenty of season left. We’re going to keep grinding good at bats. It’s been a lot of fun.”

After Chicago scored five times in the fifth, Lorenzen homered in the bottom half.

The Reds trailed 6-1 going into the seventh. Winker went opposite field on Pedro Strop’s first pitch after relieving Mike Montgomery to cut Chicago’s lead to 6-5.

Joey Votto delivered the go-ahead double as the next four batters reached against Strop (3-1), who retired just two of the nine batters he faced in his first appearance since Tuesday.

”Strop had plenty of rest – maybe too much,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. ”I felt like he was the right guy. It just didn’t work. They got two pinch-hit homers, one by a pitcher. They had some great at-bats.”

Said Strop: ”It’s always good to be fresh.”

”I’m not blaming that. I didn’t feel like I had command of my fastball. I think that was the key. I was getting behind hitters Ronnie Stanley Jersey , and I was a little bit too fine when I got ahead,” he said.

Jose Peraza drove in two runs and Tucker Barnhart had the game-tying RBI as the Reds set a season high for runs.

”We’ve never quit,” manager Jim Riggleman said. ”We’ve always battled. It’s Major League Baseball. You better keep playing for nine innings. We had that stretch where we were down three or four runs in the early innings. We were competitive and came back in some of them. As of late, we haven’t had to do that. The starters have done a good job.”

Seven runs are the most allowed in one inning this season by the Cubs, who have lost six of their last eight.

”You don’t change things,” Maddon said. ”You still eat. You still sleep. You still pet your puppy.”

The Reds overcame a fifth-inning two-run homer by slumping Anthony Rizzo, who went 1-for-14 in the series, and a solo shot by Albert Almora Jr. off Jackson Stephens (1-0), which gave Chicago a 6-1 lead in the seventh.

Amir Garrett had three strikeouts in the eighth before Raisel Iglesias picked up his 13th save.

Montgomery started in place of Tyler Chatwood, who left for Chicago early Sunday morning when his wife went into labor. The left-hander kept the Reds scoreless until Lorenzen’s homer with two outs in the fifth inning.

START OVER

Reds 3B Eugenio Suarez went 0 for 3 before leaving in a double switch, snapping his hitting streak at a career-high 13 games, the longest active streak in the major leagues.

BIG STEP

Cubs RHP Yu Darvish is expected to throw 75 pitches or four to five innings of his first rehab start on Monday with Single-A South Bend. Darvish has been out since May 20 with right triceps tendinitis.

QUICK RETURN

The Reds activated OF Scott Schebler from the bereavement list before Sunday’s after missing three games Joe Flacco Jersey , the minimum amount of time he could spend on the list. OF Phillip Ervin was optioned to Triple-A Louisville. Schebler went 1 for 3 with two walks.

WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR

Sunday’s game was the Cubs’ last in Cincinnati this season. The remaining 10 games between the two teams will be played in Chicago.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Cubs: 3B Kris Bryant missed his second straight start and is day-to-day with a sore left shoulder.

Reds: RHP Homer Bailey, out since June 2 with right knee inflammation, threw 86 pitches in six innings of a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.

UP NEXT

Cubs: RHP Duane Underwood will be recalled from Triple-A Iowa to make his major league debut as Chicago tries to keep its starters on regular rest.

Reds: RHP Tyler Mahle (6-6) is 3-0 with a 1.61 ERA in four June starts.

A look at what’s happening around the majors today:

STEPPING DOWN

The Mets march on in their difficult season a day after learning general manager Sandy Alderson had effectively stepped down because his cancer has returned. Officially, Alderson will take a leave of absence, but he said Tuesday that he was essentially ending his tenure both for his health and because he doesn’t think he’s been successful enough to continue. Assistant general manager John Ricco and special assistants J.P. Ricciardi and Omar Minaya will run the club’s baseball operations in Alderson’s absence. Minaya preceded Alderson as Mets general manager, and Ricciardi was GM of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2001-09.

CAIN NOT ABLE

Lorenzo Cain is missing the chance to face his former teammates this week due to a left groin strain. The Brewers center fielder was placed on the disabled list Tuesday, just as Milwaukee opened a series against Kansas City. Cain left the Royals last offseason for an $80 million, five-year deal with the Brewers, and he’s batting .291 with eight homers, 48 RBIs, 16 stolen bases and an .832 OPS for the NL Central leaders.

MADBUM MATH

Madison Bumgarner is one strikeout shy of 1,500 for his career going into a start against Colorado. The Giants ace will appear in his 239th game Maxx Williams Jersey , making him the fourth-fastest left-hander to reach 1,500 Ks in the live-ball era, according to stats. This will be Bumgarner’s fifth start this season, and he’s 1-2 with a 3.20 ERA.

MAKING BELIEBERS

Indians rookie Shane Bieber is off to a strong start and gets his first interleague test in a game against St. Louis. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA through three starts, including seven scoreless innings against Detroit last time out. Bieber has 22 strikeouts and three walks in 18 1/3 innings after walking just 18 batters in 274 career minor league innings. The Cardinals will counter with another promising young righty, Jack Flaherty (3-2, 2.50).

HEATING UP

Dallas Keuchel (4-8, 3.90) has been the weakest link in Houston’s rotation – which says more about the Astros than Keuchel – but he’s been sharp of late. Over his past two starts, he’s thrown 12 innings without allowing an earned run, and now he’ll face a Toronto team that struck out 13 times against Charlie Morton in a 7-0 loss Tuesday to Houston.

The New Jersey Devils are not sure whether top defenseman Sami Vatanen is going to be available for Game 5 of their first-round series with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Vatanen is listed as day to day with an upper-body injury after being hurt on a big hit by Nikita Kucherov in a 3-1 loss Wednesday night that put the Devils within a game of elimination. The 26-year-old Finn did not make the trip to Florida on Thursday Jonathan Bullard Jersey , but he might join the team there.

Devils coach John Hynes didn’t give out much information about the injury before the Devils left.

”The focus right now is really on Game 5 and getting our team prepared to play and getting excited to play, and going through the video and making sure we are a better team and ready to put one of our best performances on the ice in Game 5,” Hynes said at a news conference in New Jersey.

Vatanen was hurt late in the first period of the Lightning’s win when he was checked in the shoulder and head area by Kucherov. He did not return.

No penalty was called on the play and Hynes screamed at referees Tim Peel and Wes McCauley before play resumed.

The NHL reviewed the hit Thursday and no supplemental action was taken against Kucherov, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said in an email to an inquiry by The Associated Press.

Tampa Bay leads the series 3-1 and can wrap up the series at home Saturday.

”The good thing for me as a coach is that I have a lot of competitors in that room, guys with a lot of pride and guys who have had push back all year long,” Hynes said. ”Guys that have been counted out and all year long they have responded.”

If Vatanen can’t play, the Devils can replace him with either Mirco Mueller or Steven Santini. Mueller played in the first two games of the series, while Santini started the season with the team but spent the second half in the AHL

Replacing Vatanen will not be easy. He plays in all situations.

”Sami’s a really important part of our team,” Hynes said. ”He’s a really good player for us, but if unfortunately he isn’t able to go Authentic Carl Gunnarsson Jersey , it’s next man up. We’ve said it all year long, it’s not about the guys out of your lineup, it’s about the performance of the guys in your lineup.”

Vatanen has led the Devils in time on ice since being acquired from Anaheim in late November. He averaged 23:23 in the first three games of the series, but only played 6:46 on Wednesday night.

The Lakers finished with 35 wins, their most since 2012-13. And coach Luke Walton can live with that.

Jason Hart set career highs with 30 points and seven 3-pointers, and the Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 115-100 on Wednesday night, closing out a fifth consecutive season without a playoff berth.

”We’re on the right path for where we want to get to,” Walton said. ”Really happy with the progress we made. It was a special, fun year.”

Two-way player Gary Payton II added a career-best 25 points off the bench as the Lakers beat their Staples Center co-tenant for the first time since April 4, 2012 John Brown Jersey , as the visiting team. They went 35-47 under Walton in his second year.

”We’re very confident in what we have to build off of,” Hart said. ”The biggest thing for us is getting the experience and we did that. We all want each other to succeed. We were eliminated from playoff contention and no one went out on their own. Every game until the end of the season, we played hard, competed and played for each other.”

Tobias Harris led the Clippers with 23 points. They ended the season with four straight losses, and finished with a 42-40 record although their streak of consecutive playoff appearances ended at six.

”I don’t like going home, I just don’t,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. ”If we were healthy, we’d be in the playoffs.”

The Lakers led by nine at halftime and stretched it to 22 points in the third, when Hart scored 14 points, hitting three straight 3-pointers.

As a team Leonard Floyd Jersey , the Lakers tied their season high with 17 3-pointers, including three each by Payton, Alex Caruso and Brook Lopez.

TIP-INS

Lakers: G Lonzo Ball ended his rookie season on the bench, having missed the final eight games with a left knee contusion. In all, he missed 30 games due to injury. Ball averaged 10.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 34.2 minutes. … The Lakers were 11-19 without Ball in the lineup. … Fellow rookie F Kyle Kuzma missed the last three games with a sprained left ankle. He averaged 16.1 points and shot 70 percent from the free-throw line.

Clippers: G Lou Williams sat out his second straight game with a sprained right ankle. He averaged career highs in points (22.6), assists (5.3) and minutes (32.8). His bench scoring led the NBA in his 13th season. … They won the season series 3-1. … They had won 21 of 23 against the Lakers since 2012-13 by an average of 15 points. … DeAndre Jordan joined the crowd singalong of ”Sweet Caroline” during a timeout late in the game.

BACK TO EARTH

Andre Ingram came down to earth a night after a 19-point performance in his NBA debut for the Lakers against Houston. The 32-year-old guard scored five points on 2-of-9 shooting and had six assists in 33 minutes. The 10-year veteran of the G League said he had hundreds of messages on his phone on Tuesday. Ingram graduated from American University with a physics degree and he calls math ”a true love of mine.” He tutors high school students when he has time during the G League season and in the offseason to ”keep that part of the brain functioning.”

HE SAID IT

”I don’t even know what to do tomorrow.” – Rivers, who will miss the playoffs for just the fourth time in 19 years of coaching.

LEBRON TO LAKERS?

Channing Frye thinks it’s possible the Lakers could land LeBron James in free agency this summer. ”Any superstar would like to play for Luke (Walton). He’s a players’ coach,” Frye said. ”If that’s not enough, this is also the Lakers and you’d get to play in LA at Staples Center.” Frye will be a free agent Jakob Silfverberg Jersey , too, and the veteran forward would like to stay in LA. ”(Expletive), it’s the Lakers,” he said. ”I want to allow them to make the right decisions with bigger-name guys. I’m a pretty good backup, emergency break-the-glass-type guy.”

FAREWELL EMBRACE?

Jordan and Rivers embraced after the game ended, with neither quite sure of their futures in Los Angeles. Jordan has a player option worth $24.1 million for next season, which he could decline and pursue free agency after spending his first 10 years with the Clippers. Rivers will be heading into the final year of his contract. ”I want to be where I’m wanted,” Jordan said. ”I want to have a chance to contend. That’s really what I’m looking at.”

 Authentic Houston Texans Jerseys

J.T. Realmuto had another big game before another small crowd Womens Cameron Jordan Jersey , which probably didn’t help his cause much in the All-Star voting.

The Marlins‘ catcher homered in the fifth and singled to spark a game-winning rally as the Marlins beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 in 10 innings Monday.

Realmuto has 11 home runs and is batting .311 but ranks a distant fifth in NL All-Star fan voting.

”He’s a great player,” manager Don Mattingly said before the game. ”People just don’t know it yet.”

There weren’t many at Marlins Park to spread the word. Attendance was 6,004.

Brian Anderson walked against Ryne Stanek (1-2) to start the 10th and took third on Realmuto’s single. Yadiel Rivera followed with an RBI infield single.

Realmuto, hoping for his first All-Star appearance, said he has no hard feelings regarding the voting.

”We don’t have as many fans as other teams have,” he said. ”That’s how the fan vote goes. All I can do is go out there and play and let my numbers do the talking for me.”

The Rays lost for only the second time in 10 games, and allowed more than two runs for the first time in seven games, ending a franchise-record streak. Tampa Bay has lost 21 one-run games Womens James Conner Jersey , most in the majors.

Realmuto’s solo homer put Miami ahead 2-1. The Rays’ C.J. Cron tied the game in the ninth with a two-out RBI double against closer Kyle Barraclough, who hadn’t given up a run since May 8 .

Miami had runners at the corners in the 10th with none out when Rivera pulled a one-hopper up the line . Third baseman Matt Duffy backhanded the ball and double-clutched in foul territory before making a wild throw home, with the play ruled a hit.

”I tried to make a desperation play,” Duffy said. ”I didn’t get a grip and tried to rush the transfer.”

Rivera, a reserve batting .198, entered the game in the ninth as a defensive replacement and came through with his second walk-off hit this season.

”We go home happy,” he said. ”That’s the best part.”

Miami second baseman Starlin Castro tied a career high with four hits but also committed an error that led to an unearned run. Miguel Rojas had three hits, including a two-out RBI double in the second.

The Marlins’ Wei-Yin Chen allowed one run in six innings and it was unearned http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/jordan-howard-jersey , lowering his ERA to 5.55.

”Today was a tough one,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said. ”We didn’t have our best approach against Chen for whatever reason, but you look past that and figure that we tied the game off a really good pitcher in Barraclough.”

Tampa Bay’s Nathan Eovaldi gave up two runs in six innings. Drew Rucinski (3-1) pitched a perfect 10th for Miami.

On a clear, 86-degree night, the retractable roof was open for the 17th time this year, extending the franchise record. Marlins owner Derek Jeter watched from the second row and had plenty of elbow room.

BREAKTHROUGH AGAINST BARRACLOUGH

The Rays trailed 2-1 to start the ninth but rallied against Barraclough, who entered the game with a streak of 20 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.

Daniel Robertson led off with a single, and following a flyout and a forceout Oren Burks Jersey , Jake Bauers slid home from first on Cron’s double, barely beating the throw from left field.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Marlins RHP Drew Steckenrider was hit in the lower right leg by Cron’s comebacker in the seventh but stayed in the game and pitched a scoreless inning, and said afterward he was fine.

UP NEXT

RHP Trevor Richards (2-5, 5.06) is expected to start Tuesday for the Marlins against LHP Brian Yarbrough (7-4, 3.76).

The Bears don’t sound optimistic about getting their first-round draft pick on the practice field soon.

Bears coach Matt Nagy said today that talks between the team and linebacker Roquan Smith are stuck and going nowhere, although Nagy said he wouldn’t address the issue beyond that.

“It is at a stalemate, but at the same time I’m not going to get into any more of where it’s at publicly. I don’t think it’s fair to him, I don’t think it’s fair to his agent Art Monk Jersey , I don’t think it’s fair to our organization. We’re going to keep it between us and I think that’s the best thing to do right now,” Nagy said.

The Bears want language in Smith’s contract that would void his guaranteed money if he gets suspended. Smith and his agent think that’s unfair, given that the NFL passed a new rule this offseason that could result in players getting suspended for lowering their helmets on hits. Smith doesn’t want to risk getting suspended over an ill-defined rule and therefore losing all his guaranteed money.

So Smith remains the only unsigned draft pick in the NFL. And given Nagy’s “stalemate” description, he may remain that way for a while.
