The Infrastructure Technician is an IT professional who delivers technological support to external and internal customers. Technicians enable customer success in assisting client utilization of technology in their jobs at home or at the office. They use several tools for solving technical problems and for managing client issues.

In the IT field, these technicians play an essential role in the smooth functioning of computer hardware, software, and networks. They thus assist in maintaining an organization’s vital productivity. Also called first or second line support, they are responsible for active maintenance of organization IT assets.

Technicians provide end-user PC hardware application trouble resolution, along with support for other IT assets onsite, such as the Local Area Network (LAN), servers and email. Technicians are responsible for the design, procurement, installation and configuration of all IT infrastructure that supports the efficient use of technology at the site. This includes power consumption, monitoring hardware and software and disaster recovery.

Technicians respond to user requests and service desk referrals when troubleshooting computer software, hardware, peripherals or production-related equipment issues. They prioritize issues based on complexity, urgency and potential negative impact on an organization. They track and document all incidents until the issue gets resolved.
